Psychological Testing

March 2013, Vol. 60 No. 1, pp. 11-42

The 60 Years Retrospect and Prospect of

Psychology and Testing: The Content
Analysis of Psychological Testing

Abstract
The study of domain development analysis helps scientists figure out the future
challenges of their researches. Therefore, we conducted a content analysis of articles
published in Psychological Testing from 1953 to 2011, trying to demonstrate the important trends and developments of psychological testing domain in Taiwan over the
past five decades. Results of research pointed that, the journal has many superiorities
fitting in with the international trends:
1. Psychological Testing is a journal with steadily rising numbers of articles and
impact factor.
2. The main character of this journal is empirical research.
3. The subjects of investigation trend to be diversified and featured.
4. More authors studied collaboratively over time.
5. The categories and research methods of articles are mainly original and creative.
Additionally, we had also pointed out the strengths and weakness of this journal:
being to bring in line with international practice, the number of English writing articles
should be increased in the future. Finally, we had aimed at the research methods and the
comparison of Psychological Testing to provide research suggestions, hoping to promote the development of journal, and enhance the quality of research methods.
