Body Biography

Quotes:
- NASA also wanted astronauts who were team players. Sally knew how to be part
of a team from playing sports with boys. (pg. 31)
- Sally flew a plan to the [her] wedding, got married in blue jeans and a rugby
shirt, and then flew straight back to Houston the same day still waiting for the
most important day in her life. (pg. 47)
- She [Sally] loved being weightless, and so did the other astronauts. As soon as
the shuttle was safely in orbit, they began acting like five-year-old kids. (pg. 57)
Sally Ride was the first female astronaut to go into space. She had obtained four
degrees at Stanford University over 8 years, which shows how hardworking and
determined she was. I chose this book because I love books with strong female
characters. Sally Ride shows everyone that everyone can defy the odds if they
work hard and believe in themselves. This series is incredible because it not only
tells the story of a persons life but also informs the readers about other events
that went on in that time period.
