NEWSLETTER FOR DECEMBER

2016
Vol. 65/Issue 22
A LETTER FROM THE EDITORS
Sadly, we say good by to the old newsletter. For now on everyone will have to
read their newsletters online. The newsletter will no longer be mailed out to
people. We will have a few copies in the club for folks to read while hanging
out here and we will have plenty of copies of the monthly calendar available
to take home. Sorry for the change but we are stepping into the future!

PRESIDENT JULIANNE
Happy holidays to all our club members. Its so nice to see all the lights and
decorations and even a little bit of snow. Everybody seems to be getting excited Now
that the tree and decorations are up in the club. I want to say thanks to every one who
made the club look so cheery. Be sure to join us at the club Christmas day for our
annual party. Also remember that if you feel overwhelmed by it all the
Warm line is always available to you nightly. We are here to listen and
help. Merry Christmas and a season of good cheer.

VICE PRESIDENT SYLVIA

Holiday greetings VCS members! The year is already coming to a close. Ill be
glad to see 2017 when it finally comes. We had a lot of good times this past
year and let us not forget the VSC members that have passed away. Things
can only get better. My hope is for new fun activities and new members. To
everyone I wish the happiest of holidays for you and your family. Bless you
all and be welcoming to the new year. 2017 can be a fresh start for us all.

SECRETARY PAULA
I hope that every one is having a happy holiday season. The
Thanksgiving dinner was fantastic as always. I never eat as much as
I eat there. Thanks to all the staff For putting it on. I also want to
thank the staff in advance for our upcoming Holiday Brunch held at
the club. We always have a big menu of food, and a special holiday
bingo game; its always so much fun. Everyone from BHcare who
help out are so great for giving up their day so that we club members can have
a special day !

THOUGHTS FOR THE YEAR 2016!

We would like to thank you all for attending the club this year! This club
is a special place for many, its meaning is different for everyone who
comes here! We have folks who have been here for twenty years and
those who just joined. We are always trying to bring our members new
and better things. We love when you take trips, learn new things,
adventure out to enjoy and have a laugh! We also support you, help you
to get the ground under your feet again! We are a family of many talents.
We have activists, artists and musicians. You are the reason we are here.
We will miss the people we lost this year and enjoy the new members
who finally found us. May the new year bring you all happiness.
KEEP THE PROMISE BY CATHY B.
I liked The Keep The Promise Dinner held at St. Thomas Aquinas in Bloomfield. I
enjoyed the dinner they served. The speakers were good and we gave the
Independence Center the Club House of the Year award. Everyone had a good
time and I was glad we could enjoy a day out of the club. Thanks to all who made
this possible!

ITS CHRISTMAS, BY ALFRED AUSTIN

Its Christmas ,Merry Christmas !
Yes its merry, merry Christmas,
Tis time for hanging stockings,
Its time for riding sleighs,
Its time for jolly greetings,
Oh, I love you merry Christmas,
Youre the best of holidays.

KEEP THE PROMISE AWARDS LUNCHEON BY CARL R.

I really enjoyed myself at the K.T.P. luncheon. I got to meet
Senator Ted Kennedy and shook his hand. Later we had a
ceremony to pass our club of the year to this years winner. Then
we had a great lunch. I hope we get the chance to go back next
year.

WE ARE TAKING MONEY FOR NEXT YEARS DUES.

Its that time of year to start paying your club dues. Your dues help pay
for activities, coffee and sugar and a whole bunch of other things. Being
a fully paid member also gives you additional benefits within the club.
Its well worth the $10 a year we charge members. The $10 is the one
thing that hasnt gone up in thirty years. We will be accepting money
starting December 19th.
