Results
From the original APEX cohort of
115,502 deliveries, 8334 women and
their neonates met inclusion criteria for
this analysis (Figure). Overall, 13% of
women were transferred from another
hospital. Baseline and demographic
characteristics of the study population
are shown in Table 1, stratified by delivery gestational age. In general,
babies born at the earliest gestational
ages were delivered by mothers who
were more likely to be nulliparous and
non-Hispanic black, and less likely to
have received prenatal care (Table 1).
