HCS Memorial Award Scholarsip competition will consist of 4 age categories by
the current school grade: Grade 5-6, Grade 7-8, Grade 9-10, and Grade 11-12.
Within each group winners will receive 1st, 2nd, 3rd place cash awards and
honorable mentions.
-The repertoire selections must present at least two contracting style periods.
-Pieces must be memorized.
-Fugue must accompany Prelude.
-Minuet 1 and 2 must be played together.
-Two short selections from the same opus are acceptable, however, only one
piece can be played as a different style period selection.
-Participants must use standard published repertoire. Legal downloaded sheet
music is acceptable with the printed permission from the source.
-No arrangements, transcriptions of non piano music, or concerti are allowed.
-One copy of the repertoire must be given to judges.
-No photocopies are allowed.
-Measures must be marked at the start of each line.
-Students may not try out the piano before their performance begins.
-No recording of other students is permitted. Parents can record only their
own child.
