    Unfortunately,itisquitecommonandcansometimeshinderthefertilitytreatmentprocess.

    Unexplainedinfertilityisactuallyquitecommon.Upto10%ofcoupleswhovisitafertilityclinicfor
    treatmentreceiveadiagnosisofunexplainedfertility.Ofcourse,theseratesvaryfromclinictoclinic,
    andcountrytocountry.

    Inthetreatmentofcoupleswithunexplainedinfertility,theFSPprocedureseemstogiveabetterbirth
    rate.FSPislessinvasiveandlessexpensivethanalternativeproceduressuchasGIFT,ZIFTandIVF.

    PossibleCausesofUnexplainedInfertility

    Thereareanumberofthingsthatmayunderlieyourunexplainedinfertility.Throughpatienceand

    Intrauterine,artificial,Insemination(IUI)hasbeenusedtotreatinfertilityformanyyearsandismost
    oftenemployedwherethereismildmalefactorinfertility,antigen/antibodyreactionsinthecervical
    mucus,oramaledonor.
    MostinfertilityclinicsinIndiacurrentlyusethestandardtechniqueofIntraUterineInsemination(IUI),
    wherespermareplacedinsidetheuterus.Pregnancyratesinclinicsvarydependingonthewaythe
    inseminationisperformed,thetypeofovarianstimulation,thequalityofthegametesandthecauseof
    infertility.Ageofthewomanandlutealphaseefficiency(ordeficiency)arealsomajorfactors
    contributingtothesuccessofthetreatment.Unfortunately,thoseIUIsuccessrateshavebeenmuch
    lowerthanwithIVF.FallopianTubeSpermPerfusion(FSP)isarelativelyrecentmodificationofIUIin
    whichtheinseminationwilldirectlyplacespermintothefallopiantubes.Itisthoughtthatinsemination
    withFSPmayyieldhigherpregnancyandlivebirthratesforcoupleswithunexplainedinfertility.FSPuse
    thesameprotocolsofovarianstimulationandthemonitoringofthecycleasfortheIUIbutFSPhas
    shownveryencouragingresultsinpregnancyefficiency.Itiswidelyconsideredasmoreefficient
    techniqueandsuggestedtobeappropriateforcaseswithunexplainedinfertility.
