HOW AIR POLLUTION IS AFFECTING THE COMMUNITY OF EL PASO TX

Abstract
This research paper is about El Paso community and air pollution. This community is not
the worse in the united states when it comes about this problem but that does not mean that is
perfect. There are many people that cause this problem in the community such as traffic
problems but also because of the type of hot and dry whether that the city of EL Paso. If the
problem of air pollution is not stopped today in the future can be whole worse more. There are
many solutions that can be done to have a better-quality air today and in the future. For indeed,
reduce and eliminate fireplace and wood stove use, avoid using gas-powered machines, and
burning leaves or trash.

HOW AIR POLLUTION IS AFFECTING THE COMMUNITY OF EL PASO TX

Introduction
Communities can be a lot of things but perfect is not one of those. El Paso is a city locate
in the south of Texas with a population approximately of 1,050,120 citizens. This city is also on
the border of the United Stated and is neighbor with Juarez city. El Paso has many great things
but also has some bad ones. Most of the time people prefer to ignore these problems instead of
trying to find a solution. Air pollution is the contamination of the air that people breath every
day, and is a problem that many cities own. Air pollution is a problem that is affecting many
parts of this world. El Paso also had had in the past and has environmental issues too. This
problem is causing many issues to humans, animals, plants and to the whole earth. Over the
years it has been increasing. If this is not controlled today the future may be being to look very
blurry. Even if the United States is not on the top of the list of countries most polluted and do not
even reach the levels that china has. The community must do something to control and prevent
this problem called air pollution to have a better future to everyone.
Research Review
The air becomes contaminated or unclean when gasses, dust particles. Smoke are
introduced into the atmosphere that is the cape that protects the earth. This makes the air harmful
to humans, animals, and plants in short words it became dangerous for all living things on the
planet. This effect is called air pollution. (eSchooltoday. (2015)).
There are many causes for this problem. In El Paso smog, can be easy generated just
because of the type of climate that the city own that is usually hot and dry. This climate in El
Paso is a factor to air pollution because it makes the city venerable to wildfires ( Frohlicha, T. C.
(2016)). Some other factors that contributed to in a big way to this problem are the mobile
source emissions and vehicle exhaust, this is the contamination that comes from cars and

everything that is traffic related (TAMTI. 2016). Fumes from car exhausts contain dangerous
gasses such as carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, hydrocarbons, and particulates. When
these fumes react with environmental gasses they react and create gasses that are toxic to any
form of life (eSchooltoday. 2015). Also, industrial emissions, and residential, and heavy border
traffic (TAMTI. (2016). Air pollution can affect a human body in many ways. Because of the
gasses created by pollution like CO, it makes that the oxygen delivery to the body decrease. This
would cause harmful health effects in organs and tissues and it can provoke cancer (TCEQ.
2016). If a person breathes high levels of polluted air they can develop vision problem and even
reduce the ability to work or learn (TCEQ 2016). Children had also been affected by the
contamination of air. A study from 2001 through to 2009 in Texas, show that there was a
connection between childhood cancer and traffic related dangerous air pollutants (Danysh, H. E.
2015). Traffic. In EL Paso, there is a big number of people that suffer from asthma that is almost
75,755 (Frohlicha, T. C. 2016). For these people when there are days with high levels of
pollutions and their health may become in danger.
Solution
Every problem must have a solution or at least being able to have a positive
improvement. Sometimes coming with a solution for a problem like pollution can be extremely
hard. Instead, to a problem like this is too much better to take actions before the problem
increase (eSchooltoday. (2015)). If a community come together and everyone starts to practice
these actions the future can become a lot brighter and good for all the citizens and ecosystem.
Environmental services from El Paso Texas provide to the community actions that
everyone can take. This actions can help the city of El Paso to reduce the levels of unhealthy air
pollution, to have a better-quality air, and to protect that health of every citizen. The 3 main

things that people can help are their homes, cars and their gardens City of (El Paso. (2016)).
First, the use of paint and other products such as clean products that do not harm the environment
is a good start where people can start to help. Conservation of electricity is also very important.
This is because lots of fossil fuels are burned to generate electricity, and so if we can cut down
the use, we will also cut down the amount of pollution we create (eSchooltoday. (2015)), and to
reduce or eliminated wood stoves and in place use gas. Because traffic is a big cause for air
pollution, taking care or automobiles is more than important. It would be impossible to stop the
use of car use in the whole city but people can always try to drive less, carpooling, using
bicycles, walking and using public transit (City of El Paso. (2016)). If most of the people in the
city star to use these alternatives it means that there would be fewer cars being used so in result it
would be fewer fumes produces that are the ones that cause air to being polluted. (eSchooltoday.
(2015)).
Conclusion
It can be state that the ones more affected by air pollution are people that suffer from
heart diseases and asthmatic people. But at the end is the whole community that is in danger. If
air pollution increase life would being to decrease, first the blue skies would be gone then all the
green life until everywhere become a place without life. El Paso have not reach the levels of
cities and countries that suffer from extremely air pollution, but unfortunately it has been on the
list for most pollutes cities on the US and cities with worst air qualities (Decatur, 2016). If the
community start to take actions to prevent this problem and many other the future would be
better to everyone and the community can became an awesome place to live in.
