Grade Four Unit Plan

Joy and Winter Celebrations December 2016 8 classes

Generative Topic: Now that we have worked very diligently on recorder for the
last two months, it is very important to bring it full circle. The month will begin
with wrapping up the recorder karate using a tried and true Christmas song as
the minimum summative level (Jolly Old St. Nicholas). From there on we will
focus on form, rounds, and repertoire. It is very important as students get older
to ensure that they have a quiver full of songs that can be brought into day-today life or back into the music room. Furthermore, the importance of rounds
comes down to an understanding of harmony, how one voice works with
another, and how voices can easily accompany one another.
