Brief Description of Learning Experience: On my blog I have a flipped classroom assignment. The assignment is for 2nd graders. In the flipped classroom category on my blog, I have recorded myself telling the students to play the Jeopardy game to help with reviewing for the test they are about to take. The assignment that is was given to them is a website that has a jeopardy game. The game is exactly what the standard is so students can use this as a review tool. The activity will take around 30 minutes to complete. The audience for the blog are the students and parents of the students. Student Engagement/Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): This is at this level 2 because it is
teacher centered and involves lower level thinking skills. The students will focus on content understanding. With making this go to a LoTi level 4, I would make the student write information to the blog. I would ask them to reflect how how they did on the Jeopardy game and what changes they would make to do better on the game. Importance of technology: This is critical to students because they are able to keep up with what is happening in the class. If they miss a day they would be able to see what all was missed and be able to catch up sooner than if the teacher did not have a blog. This project could not be created without a blog because the students would not be able to figure out which site to use for the Jeopardy game. The students can access this blog from any form of technology. Inspiration (optional): https://jeopardylabs.com/play/georgia-historical-figures-2nd-grade This website was one that I found online when looking for a fun review game. Internet Safety and Student Privacy: When using any form of technology there is always the risk of hackers or the website crashing. We can not completely depend on technology. Also, when having a website that everyone can view there may be people that write in the comments box that are not in your classroom. To ensure that all comments put on the website are appropriate I would set a filter that lets me approve all comments. This would lower the risks of students and parents seeing inappropriate comments. 1
WEBSITE AND CLASSROOM BLOG CREATION TOOLS
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. My goal for this activity is that the students will use the blog as a resource to keep up with things going on in the classroom. After all of the lessons I will add extra practice to ensure that the students are understanding the information. I would include a comment box to answer questions that parents or students may have. I hope that this will be a fast way to get in contact with the students and parents. Other comments about your proposed activity:
