Title of Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity: KidPub URL of Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity: https://www.kidpub.com/ Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity in your classroom: I would ask students to publish their work online to this website. This allows the students to get feedback from other students from around the world. This is a safe environment and a recommend it to all teachers and students. What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a classroom? The computer would be important because the students would need it to post to the website. Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of them may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high LoTi Level.): a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often beyond their school: The students would be posting their work on a website and will get feedback from other students. The students are applying this to the real world so this is a high LoTi level. b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original data and or producing original products as a result of engaging in the project): This is student centered learning therefore it will be a higher LoTi level. With the students using this website they will get good feedback from other students. c. Higher-order thinking: The feedback that the students will get will be higher-order thinking. d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their product: The students that comment on their work show an interest by reading and replying. This would be a high LoTi level because it is applying it to the real world and showing the students that criticism is a real thing. Creating What Level of Technology Implementation best describes this learning activity and Why? This would be a LoTi level 4 because it is student centered and applies to the real world. This applies to the real world because students see criticism of their work. How could you implement this proposed learning experience and still comply with your districts Internet Safety and Student Privacy policies? This website is meant for students so there is probably a restriction for what can be posted on each of the students work. Teachers could use this website to try to boost their students self-esteem. This is a great way for students to see the pros and cons of their work.
