Positive facts :

The Boeing 787 was designed with a complete carbon fibre body which makes it very
light and also used an innovative Jet engine which was manufactured by both Rolls
Royce and GE , The main benefit of the engine was that it was very fuel efficient about
20% more fuel efficient then its counterparts .

The Dreamliner had more passenger seats , Which made them take in more passengers in
the single flight , Had good connectivity from City to city with no layover time , Which

was a good benefit .

Dreamliner is an economically viable and a reliable aircraft .
It could reach higher speeds compared to other aircrafts of the same category .

NEGATIVE FACTS :
Boeing had lesser market share then airbus , This lead to Boeing introducing Dreamliner
but it took a large period of time for it to establish itself with a better position in the

market because of an : Inefficient supply chain which lead to delayed manufacturing and late deliveries . This in
turn made them not meet up to the demand on time . This lead to an overall bad

performance in providing quality service on time to its customers .

Airbus had a great market share because of their efficient operations and management
techniques which made them more successful then Boeing

Supply chain lessons learned from the case

Boeing had Improper planning and did not have good collaboration between the suppliers
and manufatureres which lead to continuous delays in the process . It needed an efficient
management system which could channeluze all the operatons in a systamatic manner .
Boeing followed the TOYOTA production system but due to bad supplier delivery issues
they could not be successful implementing it to its full potential .

They should have made practical analysis of whether they needed to outsource or they
could manufacture ( Made to order or assemble to order ) their own products because
heavy dependence on outsourcing can cause major delays which Boeing faced as their

main issue .
Boeing should have had better collboration with other suppliers who are regular and
should have employed expert managers to look after labour issues as well and focusing
on cost reduction and efficient budgeting and forecast prediction .
