spend the weekend in that village, its quite pretty (tambin se podra decir pretty
pretty pero suena un poco raro).
Esa chica tiene una voz bastante buena. = That girl has quite a good voice/that
girl has a pretty good voice.

bastante segura. = Are you sure you saw Paul with another girl? Unfortunately yes,

Rather
It is a rather frightening film.
RATHER: is like pretty & quite but it is used to give a more negative meaning to a
sentence.
When rather is used with a positive meaning, it gives the impression of something
unexpected (cuando se usa rather para hablar de algo de una forma positiva, hay un
elemento de algo inesperado):
This tea is rather good; did you buy it in Marks and Spencers?
That man is rather handsome - his brother isnt good looking at all!
No le voy a comprar un ipad a mi hija, creo que son bastantes adictivos. = Im not
going to buy an ipad for my daughter, I believe theyre rather addictive.
Me gust la pelcula pero era bastante larga. = I liked the film but it was rather
long.
Somewhat.
Normally, SOMEWHAT + ADJECTIVE is the structure used with this word,
which is used to mean to a degree/up to a point (lo podemos traducer como
un tanto, algo, hasta cierto punto pero con un adjetivo).Examples:
She didnt really like the boy; in fact she thought No le cay bien el chico, de hecho, pensaba que
he was somewhat stupid.

Hardly/hardly ever
HARDLY /HARDLY EVER se usar para decir rara vez, casi nunca, apenas, o casi
nada. Examples:
He hardly ever takes the bus to work.
Vanesa was so tired she could hardly keep Vanesa estaba tan cansada que casi no poda
her eyes open.

Translation
Desde que rompi con su novio casi no sonre nunca. = She hardly ever smiles
since she broke up with her boyfriend.

Casi no salen nunca, ni siquiera el fin de semana. = They hardly go out, even at

The structure here is: I wish/If only + subject + verb in past tense
I wish/if only can be used with the past perfect to show that we regret something that
has already happened (se emplea con el pasado perfecto para demostrar que nos
arrepentimos de algo que ya pas).
I wish I had sold my house when the price was high (but I didnt, so now I still have a house that I dont want!). If only I had seen the white dress before the red one! (If I had, I would have bought it, but I didnt so now its too
late).
I wish I had gone to the gym last year; I wouldnt be so fat now! !Ojal hubiese ido

I wish you would take that make up off your face before leaving the house, its just
