Last week we looked at Jacobs life after leaving his home and family where he
married Labans two daughters Leah and Rachael. He worked a total of 20
years for Laban to earn his wives and livestock and fled to move away from
Labans control. After Laban had caught up, they made peace and made a
covenant before parting their ways.
As the Parashah opens, Jacob is once again on the move. This time he is
returning home, to the Land of his father, Isaac. Before he could return, he had
to face his Character, the Consequences of his deeds that relate to his brother
Esau, to enter his homeland again. Returning home is part of the promise YHVH
gave Jacob, and this is a prophetic word that Israel will return to the Land YHVH
promised and this happened in 1948, in our lifetimes.

The Full Circle

The next chapter in Jacobs life started where he
sent out messengers to Seir to meet up with his
brother Esau, to seek reconciliation after 20 years.
As discussed previously, the number 2, 20, 200
etc. means Restoration of Relationships and is
associated with the Birthright and the Covenant
Blessings of YHVH. This number is featuring
again at the time when Jacob had to face Esau. The name of the Torah Portion
is vayislach that comes from the root word shalach hls that means to send
away, to send out, to appoint, bring (on the way), cast (away, out), to forsake, to
give (up), shoot (forth, out), sow, spread, stretch forth (out). This word is first
found in Scripture in Gen 3:22-23:

 Then YHVH Elohim said, Behold, the man has become like one of
Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out (shalach) his
hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever 23,
therefore, YHVH ELOHIM sent him out (shalach) of the garden of
Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.
The tree they were not supposed to eat from gave them abilities that is to
change man into His likeness. In the beginning, YHVH only intended man to be
in His image and the likeness will be a long process to be formed into. It is as if
Adam and Eve short-circuited the process by eating from this tree. This
caused them to be sent out (shalach) from the garden before they eat from the
tree of life and live forever in a corrupt state.
The first insight about Jacob meeting Esau and the messengers were sent out
(shalach), is that the creation of Jacob was yet not complete, and part of him
(messengers) was sent out because of fear for the future. Jacob had to face this
fear to return to the land as YHVH promised.
The second insight we can conclude from this is that Adam had to leave the
Garden and till the ground until he could be returned to the Garden and eat of
the Tree of Life. Jacob completed tilling the ground at his uncle Laban (slave
in Egypt symbolism), and is returning to his homeland (Garden of Eden) as
YHVH promised so that he can eat from the Tree of Life.
This shows us that the story of humanity is making a full circle and we see the
last part of that circle completing its course in Jacobs life where He returns to
the Land as promised. This makes Jacobs life imperative for us to study
because of the connection to Adam and the restoration of humanity on a
collective and individual level.

Reconciling with Esau

Jacob sends his messengers out before him to meet
Esau, to test the waters if you will. They went to Seir,
a place in Edom where he met Esau.
Seir means hairy and comes from the root word
sa-er ryis that means rough, he-goat and devil.
This word is used in Lev 16 that describes the two
goats that were used for the atonement offering, the he-goat that is sacrificed as
a sin offering and the scapegoat, that took the nations sin away. This goat is
associated with Esau who married into the descendants of Ismael and became
the nation called Edom. We see the two poles of the fallen world of duality
represented by Jacob on the one hand, and Ishmael and Esau on the other
hand. Ishmael was separated from Abraham and Esau was separated from
Isaac and Jacob is the purest form of the seed of the woman that YHVH used
to fulfil his Covenant to restore humanity. This final restoration process is
depicted by the 6th Festival on YHVHs Plan, namely Yom Kippur or Day of
Atonement. This Feast has to be fulfilled before the last Feast, Sukkot or
Tabernacles, that will be fulfilled by Messiah to allow man to enter back into the
Garden of Eden.

 Prophetic Application: The goat is also found in end
time context in the prophecy given to Daniel in Dan
8:22, where the ram faced the one-horned goat who
overcame him and broke off its two horns. This
passage is in context with the words of Yshua in Matt
24, where He mentioned the beginning of the end
where the Abomination of Desolation will be set up
and the daily sacrifices be stopped. The single-
horned goat represents the Antichrist that will rise up in the last days, who will
come up against the people of YHVH. The ram will be defeated, and its two
horns (two witnesses) will be broken off, the Sanctuary will be trampled
underfoot for 42 months (3,5 years), and the two witnesses will prophesy for
1260 days (3,5 years) before they are killed by the Antichrist (Rev 11). All of
this points to the second part of the second work of Messiah, the King
rebuilding Jerusalem, that happens at the second coming of Messiah. This
places Jacob, facing his brother, in context of the second coming of Messiah.
The first work of Messiah is associated with the fulfilment of Yom Kippur
sacrifice, to atone for the sins of all humanity. The blood of the sin sacrifice
the anointed Priest brought, is the blood of the he-goat. This will allow them to
enter the restored or new Jerusalem, that King Messiah build. Before this
time, Jacob had to face a terrible time that is associated with the Great
Tribulation and the Jordan, that represents the judgement of YHVH.

YHVH in Disguise
The messengers came back and reported that Esau and
400 men are approaching to meet Jacob. Is this good news
or bad news? What do you think is going on in Jacobs
mind on hearing this news, he probably thought Esau came
with his men to kill him as he promised.
There is a deeper meaning to this scene with Jacobs encounter with Esau. The
total number of people that Jacob would face was 401 that is Esau + 400 men.
401 is the number that represents the ta where the Aleph a =1 and the Tav t
= 400. The AlephTav ta is another name or indication of

Jacobs Wrestling
Gen 32:22-30 And he arose that night and
took his two wives, his two female servants, and
his eleven sons, and crossed over the ford of
Jabbok. 23 He took them, sent them over the
brook, and sent over what he had. 24 Then
Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with
him until the breaking of day.25 Now when He
saw that He did not prevail against him, He
touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of
Jacobs hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. 26 And He said, Let
Me go, for the day breaks. But he said, I will not let You go unless You
bless me! 27 So He said to him, What is your name? He said, Jacob.
28 And He said, Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for

you have struggled with Elohim and with men, and have prevailed.
29 Then Jacob asked, saying, Tell me Your name, I pray. And He said,

Why is it that you ask about My name? And He blessed him there. 30 So
Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: For I have seen Elohim face to
face, and my life is preserved. 31 Just as he crossed over Penuel.
Q Who was Jacob wrestling with, an Angel, Messiah or YHVH?
Verse 28 reveals to us that it was Elohim Jacob wrestled with but why did he
wrestle with Him? Jacob was wrestling with the situation of facing Esau and his
fear blinded him, thinking it was Esau trying to kill him.
Personal Application: Fear is that which blind us in any situation, and we
tend to miss YHVH Who is present in the situation. Our initial response to a
bad situation is to take it on and engage in a wrestling match (spiritual
warfare) that might be out of fear, just like Jacob. Have you ever encountered
a situation where you could not shake the anxiety that grabbed you and
pulled you down to your knees, so to speak? That wrestling match is with not
with the enemy or the situation, it is actually with YHVH. Know that He is
behind the sciences, waiting to bless you and change you.

Wrestle is the word avaq qba that means to float away as vapour, clouds
and dust, that comes from the root word abaq that means small dust particles
and light particles. Wrestling with YHVH is like fighting with the air or grabbing at
small floating dust particles or vapour because He is in a higher realm. Avaq is
first used in Scripture in Exo 9:9 where Aaron took ashes from the furnace and
cast it into the air and the small dust particles of the ashes became the boils
upon Pharaoh and the Egyptians.
Spiritual Insight: It was as if Pharaoh wrestled with YHVH and boils came
upon him and his people. His wrestling resulted in him not being changed,
and he ended up with a curse. Jacob on the other hand wrestled with YHVH
and he changed and received a blessing. Every encounter man had or will
have with YHVH will either result in a curse or a blessing. Pharaoh received a
curse because of his stubbornness in rebellion, but Jacob received a
blessing because of His stubbornness in faith, not letting go unless YHVH
blessed him as He promised.

Prevail is the word yakol lky that means overcome, endure, have power, be
able. This word is used in the Covenant promise YHVH made of Abraham
where He said that if man can endure (yakol) to number the dust of the earth,
and (yakol) to number the stars in heaven, so shall the number of his seed be.
Number is the word mana hnm that means to appoint and to prepare.

Spiritual Insight: It was as if YHVH said that those who endure, will have a
harvest (offspring) based on their ability and persistence to endure, just like
Jacob did. This endurance is similar to standing in faith. It also implies that
your endeavours in enduring are not credited to your salvation, but to the
preparation and salvation of others. Specifically, people from the nations, so
that they can be saved and enter the Kingdom. Jacobs wrestling with YHVH
was on behalf of the promise so that there will be a great multitude that will
come in as a result of his endurance, and his efforts lead to many nations
who came into the Kingdom. This is the same principle and motive behind
interceding for others, praying for those you know who are still lost in the
world. This is the reason Jacob existed, and that is the reason for you exist,
for the benefit and salvation of others through your persistence, faith and
endurance.
Q - Why is Jacob wrestling with YHVH and not with Satan?
Satan or the Serpent is not the ultimate power and authority over life and death,
YHVH is. The Serpent is the opposer who wants to get as many people away
from YHVH, pulling them away from life. YHVH is a righteous God that will judge
every person on the merits of their lives, and quite frankly, all deserve to die
because of sin. That is why we have to wrestle with YHVH and endure yakal,
so that we can change, and this change in you will help those around you to
accept the truth, and wilingly enter into Covenant with YHVH.
Q Why did the Man touch Jacobs hip?
Was this Man playing dirty, injuring Jacob because He could not
overcome Jacob? In a sense, yes, because man has a strong will
that has to be broken, and YHVH cannot change it unless He
weakens us in some way to make us humble and receptive to what
He is offering us (blessing & change). The dislocated hip had a
permanent effect on Jacob that changed the way he walked or his
walk or halechah. The way you walk from a Hebrew perspective
means that way you conduct yourself and do everything. This
includes your thoughts and words, the way you act and react. YHVH touched
Jacob and changed his walk (halechah) or character, and he became a new
man or new self as Paul describes in Ephesians.
Eph 4:22-24 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay
aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of
deceit, 23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and put on
the new self, which in the likeness of Elohim has been created in
righteousness and holiness of the truth.
You are being created into the likeness of YHVH, being exposed to situations
wherein YHVH hides Himself so that you can wrestle with Him and that He can
touch you and change you into a new man, changing your walk, so that you
can walk in the newness of life with a new changed character.

Q When did this wrestling match end?
Personal Application: The wrestling match continued during the night until
daybreak. Light is another word for Truth or Revelation, and YHVH will reveal
to you what it is He wants you to learn from that situation you are wrestling
with. Once you receive the revelation, the wrestling will stop. So, when you
face difficult times or wrestle with something, ask YHVH what you need to
learn from this and ask Him what you need to change in your life so that the
pain can stop or the situation can be resolved sooner.
Q Why did the Man want to leave when the light came?
Personal Application: Isaiah tells us that YHVH hides
Himself and the breaking of day would have to reveal
Him and blow His cover so to speak. Realising this,
we see that this was not about fighting an opponent to
win, it was more like interacting with a sparring
partner, someone you need to train with, and the
wrestling match suddenly became a one-sided
exercise where Jacob wrestled to overcome his own
weaknesses. This is the reason why YHVH uses real
situations to train us, so that we will be able to become stronger as we live
our lives. All the struggles and wrestling matches you have, are actually
fights against yourself, to overcome your old nature.

From Jacob to Israel

The wrestling match concluded and resulted in Jacobs name being changed to
Israel, and YHVH blessed him. Your name is your character, and your destiny,
and Jacobs character changed from that day on. Jacob became the father of
the nation of Israel through his twelves sons becoming the twelve tribes of
Israel. The name Israel larsy consists of two words yasher rsy, which

means upright or righteous, and El la which is a short form of Elohim. This

gives us the meaning of Israel; the Righteous people of Elohim.
Some believers in Yshua, who become part of the Body of Messiah, think the
church replaced Israel, are mistaken. If you become born again, you are
grafted into Israel, becoming part of the Righteous people of Elohim, part of
Israel. In other words; the Church (Christians) do not replace Israel, but
become part of Israel. The name Christian means anointed one, and there
were many anointed ones throughout history that were Israelites. Paul explains
it beautifully where he describes the Family Tree:
Rom 11:17-21 And if some of the branches were broken off, and
you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and
became a sharer of the root and the fatness of the olive tree with
them, 18 do not boast against the branches. But if you boast, it is
not you that bears the root, but the root bears you. 19 You will say
then, The branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.
20 Well, because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand

by faith. Do not be high-minded, but fear. 21 For if God did not

spare the natural branches, fear lest He also may not spare you
either!

Some of the natural branches (Jews or ancient Israel) did not believe and were
broken off. We know that we are saved by grace through faith. We see here that
even the Jews are saved through faith and broken off through unbelief.
Q What does this faith imply?
Surely this was not faith in Messiah because their unbelief led to them being
exiled. This faith has nothing to do with faith Who the Messiah is, this faith has
to do with the essence of what faith is about, namely being faithful in the truth
you have received. At that stage, Israel received the Torah (truth) but they
refused to be faithful in it and that caused them to be broken off (Babylonian
exile First Temple destroyed). After repentance and coming back to being
faithful in the truth they received, they returned to Jerusalem, and the Temple
was rebuilt, and they were grafted back in.

Faith is the word amun ]vma that means faithfulness, that is first used in
Scripture in Deut 32 where it lists all the things that cause Israel to become
faithless, corrupting themselves with:
strange gods and abominable things
forsook YHVH, took lightly (esteemed) the Rock of their salvation
sacrificed to devils and unknown gods
forgot about the Rock that birthed them
As a result of all of this, He hid His face from them because they had no faith.
The word Rock is used twice in Deut 32 and referred to the Rock of their
salvation. Rock is the word stur rvo that means mighty one, God, beauty and
strength. Salvation is the word yeshua hivsy and this word
stur is first used in Scripture in Exo 17:6 where Moses had to
strike the Rock so that the salvation waters can come from it
and provide them with water in the desert. They lightly
esteemed this Rock of their salvation. Lightly Esteem is the
word naval lbn that means to treat as foolish, to treat with
contempt, to drop down, to fade away.
Spiritual Insight: This almost sounds like someone
backsliding or falling away from the faith, the way they
treated the Rock. They replaced the Rock with other gods
and false worship. What we can see from this is that their
faith that grew cold. This Rock actually was God (stur), and
His Name is Yshua, the One Who looked after Jacob all the
time (read Deut 32 - the whole chapter) and the One Who
birthed Israel into this world. (Third witness that the Name of Messiah is
Yshua). Yet again we see the Messiah at work, that He is the One hiding
within the bad situations Jacob faced, and He is the One Who hid behind the
Rock when Israel travelled through the wilderness. Faith is what they needed
in order to see the Rock, seeing YHVH in disguise, the Messiah or holy right
hand of YHVH Who was with them all the time, but they treat Him as foolish,
treat Him with contempt (dislike) and let go of the Rock that gave them life
(water).

Jacob Divided His Household
Gen 32:8 8 And he said, If Esau comes to
the one company and attacks it, then the
other company which is left will escape.
Gen 33:2 So he divided the children
among Leah, Rachel, and the two
maidservants. 2 And he put the
maidservants and their children in front,
Leah and her children behind, and Rachel
and Joseph last.
We see Jacobs character once again, as he operates from the heart, through
the emotion of fear, that let him to dividing his people into two separate groups.
His motive was fear, and if he had faith, he would not have divided his people
unless YHVH told him to do so.
Personal Application: The yester harah or evil imagination
always creates an enemy that is greater than the real one
approaching, and cause you to overreact out of fear. This will
cause you not to see YHVH Who is in disguise and you can
mistake His hand for the enemy (401 men approaching = Aleph-
Tav). David called it a shadow of death in Psalm 23. A shadow is
not real, but is only an outline cast into your life because of the
light (Aleph-Tav) behind the trouble you are facing. Fear will blind
you from reality and make everything seem bigger, especially the
problem you are facing. Try to see Who is behind the shadow and
receive His light (truth) behind this situation and why you are facing
this, so that you can grow and change as a result of that situation.
Jacob sends one camp, Leah and her children before the other, Rachael and
Joseph, revealing to Leah and her children their importance compared to
Rachael. What went through their minds and what did they think of Jacobs
actions? He might have been portrayed as a weak leader with no faith, a
loveless husband and a neglectful father.
Personal Application: Separation is always required when there are
impurities that have to be removed. In the case of Jacob, the impurities were
within him and resulted in the dividing of his people. This division is from man
and not YHVH and is known as division and disunity among people. We know
this was the case between Leah and Rachael where they competed in who
can give Jacob the most offspring. This enmity that existed between Leah
and Rachael resulted in Jacob physically dividing them.
This same enmity existed between Jew and Gentile in the time of the Second
Temple, where the Jews did not allow the Gentiles to worship in the Temple,
but outside at the Western Wall. Rachaels son Joseph became the prophetic
tribe that represented the Gentiles who came back to Israel through the
prophecy at the end of the Book of Deuteronomy. This is the fulfilment of the
Promise YHVH given to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, where their offspring will
be like the stars and the dust of the ground. This includes all nations because
Israel was to be a blessing for ALL the families of the earth, not just their own
people (Jews).

Leah represents our Jewish Brothers who are only concerned by their own
camp and do not reach out to the nations. Rachael represents the other
camp, who is more interested in reaching the nations, and to bring them into
the Household of YHVH. The issue with Rachels camp is, that they believe
they have replaced Leahs camp (Church replace Israel / Jews). Both are
wrong in their own way and Messiahs work is to remove this enmity or
division that exist between these two camps, that started with Leah and
Rachael.
Eph 2:14-16 For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two one
and has torn down the dividing wall of hostility 15 by abolishing in His
flesh the law of commandments and decrees. He did this to create in
Himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace 16 and reconciling
both of them to God in one body through the cross, by which He
extinguished their hostility.
Believers today misinterpreted this verse and do not realise that Paul is
talking about the two camps; the one camp not allowing the other to come in.
Leahs camp represents the Jews who made laws and decrees that forbid the
gentiles to come in (proselytes), And it is these man-made laws, not the
Torah, that is abolished by the first work of Messiah. He unites the two sticks
into His one hand, making the two one again under Him, where He will be the
King ruling them both as one House again.
Eze 37:15-23 Again the Word of YHVH came to me, saying, 16 As for
you, son of man, take a stick for yourself and write on it: For Judah
(Leahs son) and for the children of Israel, his companions. Then take
another stick and write on it, For Joseph (Rachaels son), the stick of
Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel, his companions. 17 Then join
them one to another for yourself into one stick, and they will become one
in your hand. 18 And when the children of your people speak to you,
saying, Will you not show us what you mean by these?19 say to them,
Thus says Adonai YHVH: Surely I will take the stick of Joseph,
which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel, his companions;
and I will join them with it, with the stick of Judah, and make them one
stick, and they will be one in My hand. 20 And the sticks on which you
write will be in your hand before their eyes. 21 Then say to them, Thus
says the Adonai YHVH: Surely I will take the children of Israel from
among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from
every side and bring them into their own land; 22 and I will make them
one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be
king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they
ever be divided into two kingdoms again. 23 They shall not defile
themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor
with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their
dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. Then
they shall be My people, and I will be their Elohim.
This is the work of Messiah that is associated with the uniting of the camps
and the inclusion of the Gentile believers. This is part of the second work of
Messiah that plays out at the end of the ages, before the King rebuilding
Jerusalem and the Third Temple. We are currently between the Second and
Third Temple periods and thus awaits the second work of Messiah to be
fulfilled as well as this prophecy in Ezekiel.

The Kiss of Esau
After the encounter with YHVH, Jacob saw Esau and
his men, and divided his camp into two groups where
Leah and her maidservants and children were placed
before Rachael and her maidservants and Joseph
last. When Jacob and Esau met, Esau ran to meet
him and kissed him and they wept.

places in Scripture has these jots as well and are as follows:

4. In the passage in Deut 29:29 The secret things belong to YHVH our
Elohim, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that
we may observe all the words of this Torah.
1. The Covenant, The Promise & the Opposer: These four passages are
connected and reveal the progression, starting with the birthright and the
hostility between Jacob and Esau, then revealing Messiahs first work, His
Household and His second work as coming king, establishing His Kingdom here
on earth.
2. The promise of the Savior & Protector of the
Covenant: Then the story continues with the events of
Josephs life, that is a beautiful prophetic picture of
Messiah, the Rock of our Salvation. The jots in this
passage are above an Aleph-Tav ta that points to
the Messiah. Signalling the first work of Messiah as
depicted by Josephs life.
3. Looking after the Household: The next place these
jots are found is with the counting of the Levites, the tribe YHVH appointed
(anointed) to become the firstborn of Israel who will carry the responsibilities of
the birthright for the nation of Israel. They had to teach
and facilitate everything YHVH prescribed in His Torah
including the Temple service and Sacrificial system.
They had to ensure that the people abide by His Word
so that the nation will walk in His ways. They acted as
the government and guided the people through leading
them and maintaining law order and justice. This
function exists today through the anointing and the gifts
the Spirit, with a view to maintaining the integrity and
function of the Body of Messiah, the Household of
YHVH within the nations.
4. Preparing for the Coming King: Lastly, the jots are
found in Deut 29 that is about the secret things and
the revealed things. The Word of YHVH is the
revealed things that goes hand in hand with studying
and applying the wisdom found in His Word or Torah.
The hidden things are the things that belong to YHVH,
things only He knows that will be revealed to His people
on a need to know basis. This is information that is
required to govern the people, giving them direction as
His plan unfolds within His timeline, as part of the final work of Messiah. We
need both the revealed things (His Word) and the secret things (revelation by
His Spirit) in order to be used by Him in the time of Jacobs trouble or the
Tribulation, the time similar to when Jacob faced Esau, the time before we see
Messiah revealed.

Jacob Crossed Over

Gen 32:22 And he arose that night and took his two wives, his two
female servants, and his eleven sons, and crossed over the ford of
Jabbok
Jabbok qby means emptying. This word is used six more times in Scripture
and is always associated with Ammon or the Amorites. In a future study we will
learn that Ammon represents the flesh and the yester harah (evil imagination)
and the symbolism of Jacob and his family crossing over the Jabbok, indicates
that they had to overcome their fleshiness before returning to the land. This is
one of the constant battles we face every day and have to overcome it as well to
enter the land of promise. Thankfully we have YHVHs Spirit to help us to
achieve this, all we have to do is submit to our new nature He created within us.
Prophetic Application: Jabbok comes from the
root word baqaq that means to fail, to make
empty, to make void. It is first found in Scripture
in Isa 19:3, in a prophecy that is not yet fulfilled,
This prophecy is about Egypt, where the spirit
of Egypt will fail (baqaq) and the Nile that will
dry up. During these times, YHVH will reveal
Himself to Egypt, and they will accept Him as
their God and worship Him.
Currently, Egypt, together with Sudan are
Muslim countries, and this future calamity of the
Nile drying up will cause Egypt and Assyria to
submit to YHVH and serve Him. Is there
evidence if this happening today?
85% of the water of the Nile originates in
Christian Ethiopia, and they are in the process
of building a dam that will cause the Nile to be
restricted in its flow to Egypt, and the Egyptians
will have serious issues with supplying water to
sustain them. This dam is planned to be finished
within 2017.
The prophecy begins by saying that Egyptian
will rise up against Egyptian, and this indicates
civil war and political unrest in Egypt. This
unrest actually started with the Egyptian
revolution of 2011.

 The end result will be that Egypt, Assyria and Israel will serve YHVH in
peace, and Egypt and Syria will be inside the borders of the land YHVH
promised to Abraham (Exo 23:31).
Isa 19:24 In that day Israel will be one of three with Egypt and
Assyriaa blessing in the midst of the land, 25 whom YHVH of hosts
shall bless, saying, Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria the
work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance.
Both the Nile and the Euphrates rivers are mentioned in end time prophecy, and
both will dry up as part of the end time events (Isa 19:6, Rev 16:12). The dried-
up Euphrates will be the way (hodos <3598> that means highway) kings of the
earth will use to engage in the battle of Armageddon, during the outpour of the
sixth bowl judgement.
Isa 19:23 it talks about a highway as well, a highway between Egypt and
Assyria. The symbolism of the highway connects these two prophecies,
together with the two rivers drying up, as well as the two wars, one civil and
one world war.
Both these rivers form the outer borders of the Land YHVH promised to His
people and these two prophecies as signs of YHVHs judgement that is coming.
The signs within these prophecies give us an indication of what to look out for to
see where we are about the final work of Messiah and His second coming,
where HE will rebuild Jerusalem and rule as King.

Armageddon is the Hebrew words har Megiddn ]vdgm rh which means

mountain of Megiddo. Megiddo is not really a mountain but a large hill that was
created ago where ancient forts were built as a defence against other nations.
This could be the same place that Napoleon saw and said it is the perfect place
to stage a battle. Megiddo is first found in Scripture in Jos 12:21 where it listed
the 31 kings Joshua (Yshua) and the children of Israel defeated west of the
Jordan. What is fascinating is that there are currently 31 members of the United
Nations that do not recognise Israel as a state. This could bring this prophecy
closer to home than you expect.
This places the prophetic event of Jacob crossing over before meeting Esau in
an end time context as discussed previously and definitely points to the last
work of Messiah, which is associated with His second coming as Massiach ben
David, the coming King.
