In few months time, when President Rodrigo R. Duterte took his office, I can say that he
is probably the most decisive president we have had. Because, he is also known as The
Punisher, he is known for his iron-fisted approach against criminals. I do believe that being a
tough Mayor of Davao City, the people of the Philippines supposed that what he did in Davao
City will be made also in the entire country. In his magic word Change is Coming, the people
urge to vote him except me. But now, as he is the President, I believe for his promise to change.
Aside from his programs to alleviate the suffering of ordinary Filipinos, his priority also
is to eliminate the illegal drugs which are rampant in the country. So that, in his pronouncement
to get rid the illegal drugs in 3 to 6 months. I am the one who gave opinions. I said that it is not
possible.
On the other hand, the pronouncement of President of the Philippines is final and
executory. So, the Memorandum Circular signed by PDG Ronaldo Bato Dela Rosa, Chief PNP
is properly disseminated down to Municipal level. This is the Project Double Barrel.
Since the campaign against illegal drugs was launched, I am aware of more than 15, 0000
drug personalities were nabbed and almost 1000 were slain in simultaneous police operations
nationwide. Consequently, it garnered international attention and condemnation from human
rights groups. Apparently, vigilantes did as well.
But then again, I am surprised and I do not realize that are the country is almost infected
by the illegal drugs. And now, I already knew the huge number of drug pushers and users who
destroy the lives of everybody wherein the previous presidents did not give so much attention on
this. So, I understand the reason, why President Duterte strongly fought the war on drugs. He

wants to protect the future generations and I want to. I dont want my children to become a
victim either destroy their futures because of these.
As a Police Officer, I am also affected by these situations. The critics took this as an
incitement to violence. Well yes, but I do believe that the police officer never execute any
aggression, as well as our lives, are never put in imminent danger. Of course, I am convinced that
the number of killings is much higher since president Duterte took office and it is also alarming
in a reason that they believe that these extra-judicial killings are made by the Police. Although
the Philippine National Police condemns the alleged extra-judicial killings, the critics also
pointed out this kind of violence.
Through the deadly and bloody campaign of President Duterte against illegal drugs, of
course, it will catch the attention of International community and leaders as well. Same also,
everybody will give their comments and violent reactions and the people who are against in his
administration. The Commission Human Rights also speaks against the violence of extra-judicial
killings and summary execution.
The killings have drawn global attention and condemnation from International Leaders
like Ban Ki Moon and President Barack Obama. And the United States said it was deeply
concerned about the reports. And because of the personality of our President Duterte that we all
know, he responded harshly against them.
As a result, United States and the Philippines had a dispute. And of course other countries
already knew. The relationship between the two countries will no longer become harmonious like
before as I expected not only me.

I am wondering, why he is acted like an angry cat against President Barack Obama. But,
he stated that one of the reasons is because of his personal annoyance in US. I think this is not
justifiable. However, whatever reason/s he may have, it is none of my business. All I know is
what he did in US will really sure that it will get some losses in our country and more jobs are
affected, economic as a whole.
As a result, according to the economist, a lot of people are hesitant to put their money
into the Philippines. I believe that many investors have been turned off by threatening remarks
made by Duterte against the US and the European Union. That is why they are hesitant to invest
either their business will be taken away.
President Dutertes message to the European Union and the United States after hearing
about how his recent pronouncements may affect the flow of international aid to the Philippines.
And yes, the aid from the United States is started in withdrawing. As I expected after what
happened. Of course, the US will not stay in silence after cursing such painful words.
When President Duterte said that the country can survive without foreign assistance, yes!
He is right, we can do that. The proof that we are already an independent country because we
can do.
But lets us back to the famous quotation that No man is an island. Human beings do
not (or should not) live in isolation. All people are interconnected. No matter, we live in one
island. So, we better to be good and be humble.
As a leader, he should be careful. Although, everyone has a unique personality and we do
not change the reality of being him on how he is as a leader.

Everyone actions has a positive or negative result.

Although Gov. Armando Tetangco Jr assuring the investors the macroeconomic
fundamentals remains solid, I know that it is not the assurance to remain their investments. Some
sectors giving their disappointments on current administrations fights against illegal drugs. The
fact that the crime is rate down, some investors is asking if the drug war "reduces the rule of
law". However, some investors will convince and believe that the Philippines are safer and safe
to visit and of course to do business.
Well, some investors particularly the foreign investors will think wisely in making an
investment in the Philippines in a reason of unpredictability slowing longer-term foreign
investment in the Philippines.
"We can all deal with risks. We can put measures in place to provide for risks," said
Guenter Taus, the head of the European Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines. "But
uncertainty is a factor that we do not like in business, and that is exactly what we're experiencing
right now because we don't know where we are heading."
The one thing they only want is assurance, the safety and investments for a long run.
But, if they see the positive results on President Dutertes fight on illegal drugs wherein
this is the way of improving the countrys peace and order and safety environment, I know that
the investors both local and foreign will boom. Although, his way is very harsh, it can be
consider as effective way.
And I believe, as time goes or after the six months of his pronouncement, we really feel
the tangible result. And later, they will adapt the unique style of the President way of leadership.

And For me, I truly believe the competence of President Duterte as a leader. I know that
he had big plans for the country. Even he did a decision that somebody sacrificed, I know it has
an exchange of a promise that will benefits in everybody. I know how he really loved the
Filipino countrymen even the little ones.
Even I do not voted for him; I adored him as a leader.
We can never please everybody; there is somebody that gives disagree but most
importantly is the respect.
