Topic: Installation of surveillance cameras in day care centers should be banned
1. Introduction (paragraph 1)
A. Hook: There have been severe child abuse cases in day care centers.
B. Connecting information: Concerns over child abuse is increasing among parents as there are
many working couples who leave their children to day care centers all day long.
C. Thesis statement: Forcing installation of surveillance cameras results in serious effects:
infringing teachers rights, blocking true education, and obstructing improvement in child care
environment.

2. Body
A. Paragraph 2 (first cause and effect) topic sentence: Installing surveillance cameras in day
care centers raises problems of impinging up privacy and abusing human rights of both
teachers and children.
-

Surveillance cameras would badly influence teachers who have desire to teach and take care
of children with love. Many teachers work really hard with a deep commitment to children.
However, with installation of surveillance cameras, teachers may feel they are regarded as
potential criminals.

Teachers and children are constantly distracted by cameras. Surveillance cameras would
create a sense of being spied. Teachers and children would feel uncomfortable with them.

Teaching styles can be copied by other teachers by watching the video records.

B. Paragraph 3 (second cause and effect) topic sentence: Monitoring through cameras will
violate teachers authority and their true education.
-

Parents who are really concerned about their children would like to consistently make sure if
their children are cared by a teacher. This makes teachers hard to have control over the whole
class.

Making a comfortable and joyful educational atmosphere would be impossible as both

children and teachers feel conscious of being watched by someone else.

C. Paragraph 4 (third cause or effect) topic sentence: Installation of surveillance cameras cannot
solve all problems.
D. Conclusion (paragraph 5): Surveillance cameras in day care centers merely provide a short
term solution to the child abuse cases. They create privacy concerns of teachers and children
including abusing human rights. Strict measures of employing teachers and enhanced

treatment after hiring is more desirable.
