1.0 INTRODUCTION
Tourism is one of the twelve industry that government focused on as a National Key
Economic Areas that contribute more positive impact to the gross national income
(GNI). Based on official website of Tourism Malaysia, the number of tourist arrivals to
Malaysia increased 3.7% from last year in the period from January to June. However, as
proposed by Wang (2016), since tourism market becoming more competitive, travel
behavior and preferences of different market segments are at a greater interest to the
tourism industry. The growing number of student in higher education institutions seems
to be a greater potential revenue. This situation is a dominant factor to the shift of travel
market segmented to youth travel market in tourism industry. Today, youth travel market
being one of the market niche that offer greater beneficial. In Malaysia, students of
higher education institution especially, love to travelling or take a short vacation.
Thus, we take this opportunity to provide UUM students a platform in searching
an ideal trip with budgeted price through our website namely as Uni Trip (http://unitrip9.webnode.com/about-us/). The idea of this website is coincidently generated after
scrolling the UUM Newseed Facebook group. In that group, participant freely
expressing what they feel and what they want by posting it at group timeline and one of
the regular post is about short trip holiday that suit students budget. By this, we find out
that this is the great idea and start to calculating the risk and evaluate the idea, so that
we can build up a new business idea. In the brainstorming process, we find out that one
of fundamental reason why students likely to travel is as a self-reward.
Self-reward is one of the motivation factors that trigger a better performance of
an individual. People with high motivation on achievement will continuously evaluate
their performance and if they are successful in achieving their goal, they will reward
themselves as expression of satisfaction toward they own performances. This is

BPME3033 E-COMMERCE
proposed by McClelland, in which the needs of achievement, power and affiliation drive
people actions towards success.
Thus, in student scope, they positively react towards this theory to success. After
struggling to survive in certain period of time in student life, most of the student tend to
reward themselves. There are a lots of motivations mechanisms provided by university
such as academic award (Deans Award), scholarship and others. But, the student itself
initiatively rewarding themselves in order to push them to do more and better. Short
vacation or short trip holiday is an instant therapy for students in refreshing their mood
to study and feeling free. Because of this, we are offering a platform for student in
finding the best trip for their holiday.

done in the favor of achieving the organizations goal and objectives. All of the
individuals within the organization can see through the perspective of their organization

Just like every business, Uni Trip also have our own organizational structure. It is
divided into four department or division to each of the parts responsibility. First of all is
the role of the general manager. The main role of general manager is the responsibility
of controlling and managing the overall elements of Uni Trip. The general manager is
account to involved in the planning, directing and also monitoring the flow of the

4.0 MARKET ANALYSIS
4.1 Threat of New Entrant

BPME3033 E-COMMERCE
There are growing new entrant on online business industry lately due to changing
technology nowadays. So its only natural when the number of potential entrants are
increasing. Moreover, a promising market will attract new entrants to enter the market
and profiting from it. But for travel-based websites especially in Malaysia, there are
relatively low amount of competitor in this type of business. Usually people would just
go directly to the agency website to make a booking on travel package. Moreover, Uni
Trip have competitive advantage by directing this business towards student as our
targeted customers. So the threat of potential entrant is still low since this type of
website is still new in Malaysia.
4.2 Bargaining Power of Supplier
While Uni Trip only served as a medium for various travel agency and does not directly
involved with the operation, this business depends solely on the travel agency. Uni Trip
outsource all services to different travel agency who agree to promote their business on
our website. Therefore, the supplier power to negotiate and taking control on the price
are quite high. Besides, those travel agency does have their own independent agency
outside the website so there is no switching cost. All of these factors contribute to the
supplier power for the travel agency.
4.3 Bargaining Power of Buyer
Uni Trip is not a day-to-day service that customer need, but rather a seasonal service.
So there are differences in usage for customers in specific time and condition. But since
there is not much similar type of this business in Malaysia, customers are likely to
choose to use Uni Trip when searching for various travel agency. By taking into
consideration on the high cost of switching cost and low competitors and substitutes,
the bargaining power of customers are likely to be low and less price sensitive.
4.4 Threat of substitutes
9

BPME3033 E-COMMERCE
Since Uni Trip compete in a traveling industry, it sure has substitutes across the travel
industry. The major substitute for Uni Trip is the independent website for each of the
travel agency promoted within Uni Trip website. Although it will be easier for customer to
use Uni Trip rather than searching for those agencys website individually, customers
are more familiar with the independent website than Uni Trip. This is because Uni Trip is
still new in the market, so customer might not know about the website existence.
4.5 Rivalry among existing company
There are few competitors for Uni Trip. One of the biggest competitor for Uni Trip is One
Stop Malaysia. This website contain similar features like Uni Trip website ranging from
choices of travel agency to car rental services. But Uni Trip possess unique trait by
providing university students discount when they choose travel agency promoted on Uni
Trip website.

10

BPME3033 E-COMMERCE
5.0 BUSINESS STRATEGY
First of all, a business that is operating solely online should pay attention to the usability
of the website. Therefore Uni Trip always make sure that the website is available for use
24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. The website should have
completed information about specific travel agency but never too much information
since customer can click the link that will be directed to original website of the travel
agency. For example, there should be information about the contact number, website
and also the e-mail of the travel agency. The design of the website also needs to be
taken account into since customer could get confused from a too flashy features on it.
Next, Uni Trip can take advantage of the advancing technology of social media
these days. The business can promote in free medium such as Facebook, Twitter and
Instagram that can help to boost visitors traffic on Uni Trip website. Moreover, the
business can also use the influence of celebrity by paying for review in their own social
network since they have large influence on the society.
Besides, rather than focusing solely on desktop interface, Uni Trip is also viewable
using mobile interface. This is because people nowadays find it easy to use mobile to
search for information since it is handy and less time consuming. Sometimes, the urge
to find for travel agency strike spontaneously, so customers will make impromptu
research. So a mobile friendly website will enhance customers experience in searching
information.
Other than focusing on website, Uni Trip will also suggest promotions for
customer in conjunction with festive or holiday season. For example, the demand for
travelling will be increase when there is holiday season, so Uni Trip will provide
promotion package regarding the price or additional benefit if customers choose those
specific time. Besides, the business needs to maintain good relationship with customers

11

BPME3033 E-COMMERCE
by providing great hospitality to them. This may leads the customers to leave positive
review on the website, thus giving Uni Trip positive reputation.

travel agencys website around Malaysia and neighbouring country but more focus on
students in University Utara Malaysia. The flow that is shown at the top is our
companys value chain analysis. The flow show the way we operate our business. First,
we need to search for travel agencies that doing the travel package service business.
We need to collect their details for more information. This is because it is easier for us to

the details we will post it on our website. So customer can hover around our website to
search for their needs. We will put the details of the travel agencies so our customer
can contact them for further enquiries.
After that, we will collect the order from the customer on website. We will inform
the supplier about the details of the customer. This is because it is easier for them to
contact the customer for deal . The next steps is supplier need to collect our payment
from the customer that have order the service from us. Then supplier need to pay to us
by online payment for commission and we will inform the supplier to provide the service
after the payment have being did. Our company will take RM20.00 per month and
RM2.00 per head from the sales.
Moreover, we will market our service by using Twitter, Facebook, Instagram,
WhatsApp and other social media to make sure they know about our service. Finally, we
will used the customer service which is they can comment and give the idea about our
website so we can improve our service. We will also collect the survey from the

productivity and many more. The advantage of using CRM is it can make us to focus on
our organisations relationships with individual people whether those are customers,
service users, suppliers and colleagues.
By using CRM, it is easier for us to overview of our customers because we can

account directly to another account without using any paper money changing hands.
Direct deposit is one of the most widely-used EFT programs, in which payroll is
deposited straight into the supplier bank account, although EFT refers to any transfer of
funds initiated through an electronic terminal, including credit card, ATM, Fed wire and
point-of-sale (POS) transactions.
The advantage of EFT is it can being use for online bill payment which it is
paving the way for a paperless universe where checks, stamps, envelopes, and paper
bills are obsolete. It also can reduced the administrative costs, increased efficiency,
simplified bookkeeping, and greater security.

information flow and the finances flow. The product flow includes the movement of
goods from supplier to a customer, as well as any customer returns or service needs.
