f. Cast iron parts, wood or combustible
materials & bush bearings should not be
used in any parts of crane.
Defects in materials like fractures, cracks, blow
holes , laminations pitting etc., are not
acceptable.
As per relevant Indian standards.
Testing and certification by Licensed inspector
as per factory act.
Tests should include the following in addition to
tests specified by standards:
a. Load test, overload test, Deflection test and
movement test
b. Speed test at rated speed and rated load
c. Over load test: All crane movements to be
tested at 25% over load to show capability of
crane to handle overload without any difficulty.
d. Brake test: Hoist brakes should be capable of
holding the load while handling load at rated
speeds.
e. LT and CT brakes should be capable of
stopping the crane within a distance of 10% of
speed.
f. Safety checks, interlock checks , smooth
movement of hook and rope.
The technical offer should include a scaled
drawing indicating
Clearances, major dimensions, hook approach,
lift location and direction of view, wheel sizes,
wheel base, wheel load and spacing etc.,

TERMS AND CONDITIONS


1. The crane should conform to relevant Indian standards.
2. The crane should be designed and built for safe operation.
3. The crane should meet stipulations of Statutory authorities like
Factories inspectorate, central electricity authority etc.
4. The crane should be designed for long life and reliable service.
5. The crane should be designed, built and installed with necessary
precautions and safety.
6. General specifications are indicated. Please contact HOD(TPM)
for any clarifications.
7. The crane building, erection and commissioning works should be
carried out by qualified and skilled workmen who are covered
under ESI.
8. Qualified and experienced supervisors should be employed to
supervise the works.
9. While carrying out the works, care must be taken to protect
personnel working / moving in the vicinity.
10. If any damage is caused to Institute property, the same should
be rectified free of cost.
11. The crane should be designed with appropriate Factor of safety
for usage at maximum load and speed conditions.
12. Instructions for safe crane operation should be indicated at
suitable locations to caution the operators / users.
