Throughout the next few weeks, our math classes will be learning about liner

equations. We will learn how to write equations and then graph them on a coordinate
plane. You can expect to see homework coming home that involves real-world
problems that involve tables, coordinate planes, and ordered pairs.

This is quick chapter. There are only 5 sections. We are scheduled to


begin 9.1 on Wednesday, January 11th, review on January 19th, and
test on Friday, January 20th.

We will be seeing some new vocabulary in this unit.


Your child will need to know and understand the
following terms:
Dependent Variable: A variable whose value
depends on the value of another quantity.
Independent Variable: A variable whose
value determines the value of another
quantity.
Linear Equation: An equation that, when
graphed, forms a straight line.
