NARRATIVE REPORT:

On my G.E days, I had heard about master-slave system here in Alangilan

campus so I was not surprised when they told us that on acquaintance day were
going to meet them. I was very happy because instead of master-slave system,
they changed it to Buddy System. To tell you truthfully, I was worried about
having a master because he/she might give me so many things to do that I wont
have time for my own studies, that he/she will literally enslave me by making me
his/her utusan. Yup, Im good at overthinking thats why Im always
overreacting. Anyways, I was relieved when they changed it to Buddy System.
Buddy means -a friend, companion, or a partner. The organizations purpose in
creating this activity is to develop good relationship between seniors and juniors
by getting to know each other then helping each other to keep us aligned to our
goals and purpose.

The Junior Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers conducted an

Acquaintance party last September 23, 2016 at Villa Marines Resort 2, Sto. Nino
Ibaan Batangas involving the members, officers and advisers of the organization.
When we arrived at the venue, the officers gave us a small piece of paper with
different colors and diverse symblos and numbers in it. They remind us to keep it
because it has something to do with the buddy system. I have a bad habit of
losing what is told not to lose so I put it in my phones case so I can always see
it. The party was totally great! When I was in G.E, acquaintace party is really
boring because not all student can participate in the program. The gymnasium is
too small for all the students. My first experience in acquaintance party as an
electrical engineering student was really unforgettable. The games were fun and
at the same time we had the opportunity to know our batchmates, seniors and
professors.

As the program goes, the time came when our number is called and told us
to find the person who have the same number. As I search for my buddy, I was a
little bit nervous and at the same time thrilled to know him/her. Then I found my
so called ka-buddy Kuya Dave. We just smile at each other and tell our names.

My Ka-buddy was Kuya Christian Dave Macalalad, 4 th year student. He has

a twin brother named Darwin (ME major). They was born on October 11, 1997
and they just moved in at Bolbok last May. Hes happily in a relationship with ate
Ruthessa Macatangay. He loves watching bastkeball though he is not really
good at this sport. He is a big fan of team LA Lakers. He also likes to watch
movies especially action and comedy genre. He always make fun of his twin
brother but teasing his eldest brother is the one he likes the most. I call him
Kuya Dave and I use po and opo when talking to him even though Im three
months older than him. (how did it happen?!) My first impression when I first saw
him was smart, serious, and introvert.

Im kung hindi mo ako papansinin, hindi din kita papansinin kind of

person thats why approaching him first is a struggle. Whenever I see him at the
hallway or outside the campus, I was unsure if Im going to smile or say hi/hello
kuya at him so I look down instead. Since I cant approach him first personally, I
used facebook to contact him. As I browse his profile, I see that he is an
affectionate and family-oriented person. I also see that he is a faithful boyfriend
to ate Ruthessa.

I added him
on facebook and I
started the
conversation. Im
nervous to approach
him because I think
hes an introvert but thankfully he is not
what I thought he was. Kuya Dave is really a nice and good guy.
He never makes me feel awkward and different when we talk to each other thats
why I became comfortable talking to him. We became friends not just on
facebook but also in person. He assisted me on my assignments when he knew
how to do it and he shared some of his knowledge before major exam that
helped me big time. He is a reliable friend. I even told him my rants and
problems about my proffesors and subjects and he encourage me to just work
hard, study more and be patient.

Kuya Dave is full of words of wisdom. He always reminds me that the

there is no easy way to success, I have to work hard to earn it. There will be a
day that I will feel like giving up because of all the hardships that Im going
through but its part of my journey. Its all going to be worth it, he said. Hes been
where I am and still pursuing for his goals. His stories were inspiring and he is
such a good example of an aspiring successful Electrical Engineer.

My journey in first semester of third year college has become more

meaningful when I engaged myself to my buddy, Kuya Dave. I could humbly say
that it has become a vital part of my college life whenever we are sharing and
helping each other to learn more about our course. As clich as it may sound, I
have figured out the essence of the old-but-gold saying No man is an island.

Im really thankful for my buddy who does not only remind me to be more
productive and creative but rather one who encourage me to step up and leave
the comfort zone that hinders me from being an excellent person. I am eternally
grateful to God for giving me such a devoted partner because I always feel
beyond blessed every time we conduct our sharing time.

I will always value the words of encouragement that he had shared with
me and to all the advice that he said to me. It is a blessing because you have
someone who uplifts your life whenever I face different kinds of circumstances,
especially in the times when I am so stressed because of the exams. I could say
that he is really a big help in my first semester in third year college.
