Step: 72) Click on Disable and Apply and close the window

Mounting a Hard Disk and ASM Disks

Step: 73) Goto /dev directory (#cd /dev) and list all the drives added to this node (# ls sd*) you will
find sdb is blank. So Partition sdb drive (# fdisk sdb). Here hitting the before command just try to
give m for help, it will display all the commands from that give n for New Partition, p for Primary
Partition, 1 for only 1 partition, leave the default values just press ENTER, now give p printing the
tables and w for writing those tables on the disk

Step: 74) Now just list the disks by giving (# ls /dev/sd*). Here we can see that sdb1 (partition) is
created. Now formatting that partition just give (# mke2fs j /dev/sdb1), and add entry in fstab file.
(# vi /etc/fstab)

Mounting a Hard Disk and ASM Disks

Step: 75) Now add the entry as follows. 1st column (the partitioned drive), 2nd column (mount point),
3rd column (file type of the drive), 4th column (mode), 5th column (default values)

Step: 76) Create a directory as given in fstab file (# mkdir /u01), and issue the command (mount a),
the drive will automatically mounted, and try to give (df h) to see all the mounted drives.

Mounting a Hard Disk and ASM Disks

Step: 87) In Node 2 goto Settings -> Storage -> Choose existing disk

Step: 88) In Node 2 also it should like this.

Mounting a Hard Disk and ASM Disks

Step: 89) Now list the newly added disks (# ls /dev/sd*), and try to partition those three
disks with fdisk command (fdisk /dev/sdc -> n -> p -> 1-> Enter key -> Enter key -> p -> w.
Similarly for other two disks (sdd, sde)

Step: 90) After making partitions for three disks we should see like the below at last..

Environment for RAC

Step: 91) Install preinstall packages using yum (yum install oracle-rdbms-server-11gR2-preinstall).

Step: 91) Try to grant permissions to complete preinstall packages successfully.

Environment for RAC

Step: 93) Give the ip-address and hostnames in hosts file (# vi /etc/hosts) in both nodes. And
comment the 2nd line.

Step: 94) Create directories for GRID_HOME & ORACLE_HOME and change permissions and
ownership to the parent dorectory.
(# mkdir p /u01/app/11.2.0/grid) | (# mkdir p /u01/app/oracle/11.2.0/product/db_1)
(chown R oracle:oinstall /u01) | (# chmod R 0755 /u01)

Environment for RAC

Step: 95) Try to download and install OracleASM Libs which you can download from
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/linux/asmlib/rhel6-1940776.html

Step: 96) In Node 1 initialize oracleasm by giving (# oracleasm init), and configure to oracle user and
oinstall group, so that from next time they will initialize after booting.
(# oracleasm configure -i) | (oracle -> oinstall -> y -> y)

Environment for RAC

Step: 97) After oracleasm configuration is completed now try to create the (three VOTING DISKS) to
ASM DISKS (/dev/sdc1 | /dev/sdd1 | dev/sde1)

Step: 98) In Node 2 try the same thing Install OracleAsm Libs and configure oracleasm to oracle user
and oinstall group, then just try to scan and list the disks which have been created in Node 1.
(# oracleasm scandisks) | (# oracleasm listdisks)

Environment for RAC

Step: 99) Give a password to Oracle user in both the nodes. (# passwd oracle) | (default password is
oracle).

Step: 100) Try to connect to self and other nodes with the help of ssh.

Environment for RAC

Step: 101) Try to generate keygen of ssh using the following command (# ssh-keygen t rsa -> Enter
key -> Enter key -> Enter key), go to .ssh directory in oracle home and change the of id_rsa.pub to
authorized_keys (Node 1), same check connectivity in Node 2 and generate keygen and change the
name of id_rsa.pub to authorized_keys2 (Node 2), and copy the authorized_keys file from Node 1
to Node 2 using the command (scp /.ssh/authorized_keys @rac2:/home/oracle/.ssh), vice-versa
from Node 2 to Node 1 (scp /.ssh/authorized_keys2 @rac1:/home/oracle/.ssh). This is setting up a
Passwordless Connectivity between two nodes.

Step: 102) The below is the Passwordless Connectivity between two nodes.

Installation of RAC
Step: 103) Copy the Software from the SharedFolder.

Step: 104) Change the ownership to oracle user and oinstall group (# chown oracle:oinstall

Step: 117) The pop-up should come

Installation of RAC
Step: 118) Check the locations in Node 1 & Node 2 should be identical. And change Cluster Registry
Storage Type (from File System to Oracle Automatic Storage Management) and give the SYSASM
password -> Next

Step: 119) Give the DiskGroup Name and if the creation of VOTING DISKS are done with correct
oracleasmlibs then those three Disks should appear automatically, otherwise we should give the
manual path by clicking Change Directory Path (/dev/oracleasm/disks/*)

Installation of RAC
Step: 120) The oraInventory path is default -> Next

Step: 121) Prerequisite checking is going Please Wait..

Installation of RAC
Step: 122) The two Errors can be ignored, because in test environment we will not configure NTP,
MDNS -> Next

Step: 123) Check on Ignore All -> Yes -> Next

Installation of RAC
Step: 124) The Installation Process is going in Node 1

Step: 125) Now the Installation Process is going in Remote Node 2.
