1. About the Consultant:
HSS BIM Solutions is an extended arm of the HSS Group which provides a full range of Engineering
Services for a wide variety of projects. HSS Group is currently one of the leading ISO certified
(9001:2008 standards), engineering consultancy firm in Malaysia. The Groups expertise lies in project
management, master planning, preliminary and detailed engineering designs and construction
supervision.
HSS is registered with the Malaysian Ministry of Finance, Board of Engineers Malaysia, Association of
Consulting Engineers Malaysia, The Asian Development Bank (ADB), The World Bank Group,
Malaysian Water Association and International Road Federation, Ras Al Khaimah UAE and The
Registration Companies Brunei.
HSS BIM as part of the HSS Group of Companies is also able to draw on the resources within the group
and is well equipped to handle projects of varying magnitudes. The Group has a total workforce of 500
staff of which more than 150 are engineers from various disciplines in the engineering industry.
In our 27 years of establishment, HSS Group has contributed both directly and indirectly, to the success
of many of Malaysias major infrastructure and landmark projects in various sectors such as highways,

Within the group, HSSs sister company HSS BIM Solutions Pvt Ltd. specialises in Building Information
Modeling (BIM), a digital representation of physical and functional characteristics of a facility. BIM is a
shared knowledge resource for information on any facility forming a reliable basis for decisions during
its life-cycle; appropriate for facilities management.
Further, traditional building design was largely reliant upon Auto Cad two-dimensional drawings (plans,
elevations, sections, etc.). Building information modeling extends this beyond 3-D, augmenting the three
primary spatial dimensions (width, height and depth - X, Y and Z) with time as the fourth dimension and
cost as the fifth. It also covers spatial relationships, light analysis, geographical information, quantities
and properties of building components. It is also useful for clash analysis of complex services in
buildings.

2. Building Information Modeling:
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a digital representation of physical and functional characteristics
of a facility. A BIM is a shared knowledge resource for information about a facility forming a reliable
basis for decisions during its life-cycle; defined as existing from earliest conception to demolition.
Traditional building design was largely reliant upon two-dimensional drawings (plans, elevations,
sections, etc.). Building information modeling extends this beyond 3-D, augmenting the three primary
spatial dimensions (width, height and depth - X, Y and Z) with time as the fourth dimension and cost as
the fifth. BIM therefore covers more than just geometry. It also covers spatial relationships, light
analysis, geographic information, and quantities and properties of building components (for example
manufacturers' details).

3. Our Capability:
HSS BIM SOLUTIONS utilizes three-dimensional building information modeling (BIM) programs early in
the design process to enable greater pre-visualization of conceptual design elements and spatial
relationships. With BIM, all members of a design teamincluding architects, MEP/FP engineers,
structural engineers, civil engineers, cost estimators, and contractorsspeak the same language with a
single model to which each discipline contributes their specific knowledge. Each three-dimensional
model contains essential data regarding not only the buildings design, but also that of the buildings
performance capabilities, logistics, and constructability.
We have found that combining the BIM programs Autodesk Revit and Navisworks in the construction
documents phase helps us identify and correct potential problems among the different design and
engineering disciplines early on, creating more coordinated documents and a smoother construction
process. As contractors continue to shift toward practices rooted entirely in BIM, our ability to provide a
quality model is a valuable tool to help our clients save time and money.
BIM is the next generation in documentation for architects. As such, we want to make sure we maximize
the softwares capabilities in order to deliver the highest quality documents to our clients. Our BIM

6.1.3D Modeling Digital model for Easy Reviewing of the project
To appreciate the key features and value introduced by building information modeling (BIM), it is
helpful to look back at the history of design communication and how building modeling has been
used in that process.

Prior to the Renaissance, building designs were documented and communicated using physical
models. These models provided a physical representation of the proposed design that everyone
could easily see from many perspectives. To construct a physical model, design features had to be
fully understood and resolved in 3D, so the model served many purposesas a design tool, as a
building plan, and as a record of the design.

6.2.Clash Detection Proper Coordination helps in Fewer erros during
construction
Clash detection enables the effective identification, inspection, and reporting of interferences in the
composite project model. It helps reduce the risk of human error and oversights during model
reviews by automatically detecting model interferences. Clash detection can be used as a one-time
sanity check for completed design work or as part of an ongoing project audit and quality control
process.

6.3.Quantity Take off 100 % accurate Quantity take off

BIM models can be used to accurate generate quantity takeoffs and assist in the creation of cost
estimates throughout the lifecycle of a project. Using BIM models in this manner enables the project
team to see the cost effects of their design decisions and proposed changes during all phases of the
project, and this feedback supports better design decision-making and can help curb excessive
budget overruns due to project modifications.
Quantity takeoffs from a BIM model enable project teams to quickly generate cost estimates to assist
in decision-making and provide cost information about alternatives to owners early in the design
phase and throughout the project lifecycle. The BIM model is integrated with cost information from
an estimating database, and this approach has proven to be quicker (some leading firms report a
savings of nearly 80 percent of the time compared to traditional estimating) and reduces the
possibility for errors and omissions. It can also reduce quantity takeoff time and allow estimators to
focus on higher value activities, such as identifying construction assemblies, generating pricing, and
factoring risks.

6.4.Construction Simulation To Monitor the Progress of the project
The ability to forecast and anticipate problems before they occur is essential for effective project
management. When the cost of schedule delays or construction rework because of errors is
considered, it is clear that project managers need to carefully plan and orchestrate construction
operations down to the last detail, both in space and time.
Traditional scheduling methods do not address the spatial aspect to the construction activities nor
are they directly linked to a design or building model. Traditional bar charts or Critical Path Method
network diagrams can be difficult to understand or interpret. Having the ability to watch the elements
of a design come together onscreen gives the design and construction team improved accuracy in
construction sequencing.4D simulation enables project teams to:

Inform design decisions by considering the impact on construction of proposed design features.
Identifying and resolving problems earlier (when needed changes are easier and less costly to
implement).
Access and manage project risks.
Improve project schedules and bring facilities online sooner, which is typically a great benefit to the
owner and users.

6.6.As- Built Model - Future maintenance
BIM can bridge the information loss associated with handing a project from design team, to
construction team and to building owner/operator, by allowing each group to add to and reference
back to all information they acquire during their period of contribution to the BIM model. This can
yield benefits to the facility owner or operator.
For example, a building owner may find evidence of a leak in his building. Rather than exploring the
physical building, he may turn to the model and see that a water valve is located in the suspect
location. He could also have in the model the specific valve size, manufacturer, part number, and
any other information ever researched in the past, pending adequate computing power. Such
problems were initially addressed by Leite et al. when developing a vulnerability representation of
facility contents and threats for supporting the identification of vulnerabilities in building emergencies

Our modeling team is specialized in all BIM Softwares and is structured around with quality control

The museum has been designed as a "seemingly floating dome structure"; its web-patterned dome allowing
the sun to filter through. The overall effect is meant to represent "rays of sunlight passing through date palm
fronds in an oasis." The total area of the museum will be approximately 24,000 square metres (260,000 sq
ft). The permanent collection will occupy 6,000 square metres (65,000 sq ft), and the temporary exhibitions
will take place over 2,000 square metres (22,000 sq ft). The museum is expected to cost between 83 million
and 108 million to build, though estimates vary.

featuring an undulating roof, inclined facade, 52 meter tall processor ceiling and the use of advance
technology with a total build-up area of 702.000 square meters. 84 thousand tons of steel will be used for the
construction and the terminal building will have a roof area of 225.000 square meters and a total facade area
