A study on consumer behavior toward online

shopping
Introduction:
Internet is changing the way in which the consumers buys goods and services, many customers
buying their product from the online because of availability of varity with less price. Recently
companies have started using the Internet with the aim of cutting marketing costs, thereby
reducing the price of their products and services in order to stay ahead in highly competitive
markets.
Many Customers use the Internet / online shoping sites not only to buy the product from online,
but also to compare prices, product features, product quality and after sale service facilities they
will receive if they purchase the product from the online as compared to a particuler store.
Online shopping is definitely a great way to shop because everything available on the websites
From clothes, gift items, food, home needs, medicines, and many more, this mode of shopping
allows one to shop conveniently without spending long hours in a supermarket or shopping
areas. The online shopping sites carries wide availability of information which allows the
customer to go through various reviews of the product or service before actual purchase. These
online shopping sites also benefits and attracts the customer by offering huge discounts and other
offers.
The only limitation for the online shopping is the consumer must have adequate knowledge of
Internet so, in rural area the online shopping is not developing but in urban areas it is moving
ahead day by day.

Online shopping has been widely adopted as a way of purchasing products and services. Usage of online
shopping is become more and more popular in present days.

phones, e-tablets, consumer electronics, gift, Laptops, ornaments are the major attractions for
consumers in online shopping. One of the key reasons why customers are prefering online
shopping for such products is because of the large availability of verity of items. These websites
helps customers to search and compare products with another site and also with local market.
Another vital reason which is attracting the number of online shoppers is 24X7 shopping
advantage and the home delivery of products. they also provide discounts, vouchers, BOGO
offers and free gifts to attract customers.

Nidhi Visnoi Sharma and Varsha Khattri (2013): Recently preference for online shopping
increased, many online sites focuses on increasing awareness about the availability of goods and
services and building a feedback mechanism. Here trust plays a vital role in repurchasing the
products. the researchers explains that, the deals and discount on websites must concentrate their
marketing effort towards building trust in the consumer, mostly about the financial transactions,
where a variety of payment options must be provided to the consumer (say card payment and
cash on delivery). Next, there must be marketing activities on increasing awareness about their
offerings. This would lead to more of impulse buying from the site thereby leading to a loyal set
of customers.

S. Aruna & A. John William: The online shopping is growing rapidly in positive manner. It has
become popular and convenient. Though it is convenient there are various factors which
customers look before going for online shopping such as price, quality of the product and
delivery time
