HEKSS Multi-disciplinary Study Day in Healthcare for Older People:

BLURRING THE BOUNDARIES

This study day is aimed at Band 6 or 7 level staff in health and social care who are interested in how
interdisciplinary working in the NHS can make care better for older people.
We aim to stimulate discussion and explore difficult areas of practice with mixed groups of geriatrics
trainees, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and social workers. We believe that by
blurring the boundaries between health and social care, and between hospital and community, we
can make things better for patients.
Activities during the day will include:

Case discussions of frail, older people including complex discharge planning

Workshop on improving the systems that stop older people accessing services they need in a
timely manner
Time for critical reflection on multi-disciplinary team working in our practice- how can we
help blur the boundaries in our workplace?

The day takes place on 30th March, 9am- 4pm at The Roffey Park Institute , Forest Road, Horsham,
West Sussex, RH12 4TB. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
We have 40 places available for those who work in NHS organisations or contribute to the care of
NHS patients- to apply for a place please register at http://hekss-study-day_30-mar2017.eventbrite.co.uk
