Transport

The first forms of public transport were ferries and animals, such as horses. The underground
travels in Budapest. Trams travel in big cities. The buses are old, cramped (zsfolt) and
smelly. In my opinion the country needs to buy new and spacious buses in order to avoid
some accidents. The fastest type of the vehicles is the underground because it isnt influenced
by weather or traffic conditions. In Hungary you can find it only in the capital.
Trains are cheap and environmentally friendly (krnyezetbart). But they are slow,
uncomfortable and dirty. You can only travel with a few suitcases.
The most popular vehicles are cars because they are fast and comfortable and clean. You can
travel with many suitcases. You can start your journey when you want. You can stop for a rest.
But, petrol is expensive and bad for the environment. And traffic jams cause different
problems.
I think it is not a good way of travelling because I can see lots of cars with only a driver
without any passengers. I think it is not economical and not healthy. Lots of cars make traffic
jams and pollute the air. Instead of car we should use public transport.
If you often use a public transportation you can buy a season tickets and if you are student or
retired you can get discounts too.

Traffic problems:

I think there are some problems on the roads so we need develop them. But I think there are
some good changes. I can see more and more roundabout which is safer and it makes the
traffic faster. Unfortunately there are lots of trucks on the roads which cause lots of accidents
and troubles.
On the road you have to keep the traffic rules and you have to know the traffic signs. We
should take care of ourselves and the other members of the traffic. Sometimes the pedestrians
( gyalogos) dont know the rules so they cant keep them.
Sometimes there are rush hours in the traffic at 8 oclock a.m. and 4 oclock p.m. It means
that lots of people go to work and lots of students go to the schools in the morning and they
come back home in the afternoon. The rush hour doesnt mean traffic jam but sometimes it
causes it especially in the capital city. There is a high number of accidents in this country, but
fortunately they dont all end with deaths. In most cases they result in bodily injuries. I think
drivers, pedestrians (gyalogos), and road conditions can be blamed for it.
Parking is getting more and more difficult nowadays because the number of cars has
increased dramatically.
Learning foreign languages
Since Hungarian is not a widely spoken language, you have to be familiar with at least one
foreign language to be able to get along in life. Nowadays the most advisable ( javasolt,
tancsolt) language to study is English. It is considered an international language in a lot of
areas, especially when using a computer. Together with French it is the language of
diplomacy.
Its important that we take a language exam because its necessary if you want to get a degree,
and it is an advantage when a student wants to go on to higher education. Nowadays if you
want a good job, you will have to be able to speak foreign languages, and its good if you can
prove it with a certificate. Of course, knowledge of a foreign language is advantage for you in
your weekdays and in your travelling too. In addition, you can make friends abroad, you can
learn about other peoples culture, way of life and you will be able to understand foreign TV
channels.
You can learn foreign languages alone at home from a book, with a private teacher or at a
language school, and of course abroad.

Arts:
Arts are part of our life, and they can be divided into: literature, performing arts, fine arts and
architecture. For many people today culture and cultural life is represented by fine arts and
exhibitions, as well as going to the cinema, the theatre and concerts of classical or pop music.
Big cities have wider choice of cultural facilities. For young people the most important
cultural events are concerts and festivals. Concerts of classical music are usually in spring,
however pop concerts and festivals are held in summer.
My favourite field of arts is painting. I like paintings by Leonardo da Vinci. Leonardo da
Vinci began painting the Mona Lisa in 1503 or 1504 in Florence and finished it in 1519. This
is an oil painting. The Mona Lisa is a half length portrait. It has been described as "the best
known and the most visited painting in the world. If you travel to Paris, you can watch it in
the Louvre.
