Presidents Message
It gives me great pleasure to highlight the achievements of Karwan-e-Hayat. For the past three
decades Karwan has been at the forefront of treating mental illnesses. Our foremost focus has been
to reach out to people who need treatment for mental illnesses, especially those who belong to the
underprivileged section of society. Moreover, along with treatment Karwan has been aggressively
working on the advocacy aspect as well. Conveying the message that Mental Illness is treatable is
just as important for us as the treatment for the disease itself.
During the previous year Karwan-e-Hayat has treated nearly 55,000 patients for mental illnesses.
We have carried out a series of activities to increase awareness on the topic of mental illness.
Karwan is also in the process of setting up and strengthening its academic and research activities.
Furthermore, we have cooperated with various NGOs, institutes, medical professionals and even
government organizations on numerous fronts. This networking has led to a series of awareness
activities, sessions and workshops which will play an integral role in highlighting the problem of
mental illness and its effective treatment. Mr. Saleemuddin Ahmed
(President, Karwan-e-Hayat)
