R.S.P.C.A. AND ZANE GREY

Ironic Comment By U.S. Newspaper NEW YORK, February 11.

The controversy in New South Wales between Mr. Zane Grey and the Royal Society for the Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals which has been given some

prominence in the local press, elicits rather sarcastic comment in the "Even ing Post," which says that the
nove list's contention that marlin eat pen guins "is not very convincing." and that the answer that he plays
fair by using rod and reel could be improved on. "Why not make fishing a really sporting game and end
these futile controversies?" the paper suggests. "What we would like to see is a new technique in fishing
where the fish could occasionally win. After all, in the thousands of encounters which Zane Grey has had
with big fish, not one fish has ever caught Zane Grey. If such an exigency could be provided for, every
objection raised by the R.S.P.C.A. ought to be quieted."
