I am a wanderer on the web of the wyrd, and I honour the gods and goddesses. Over the last decade
I have helped countless people, some with hideous injuries, and some in need of a hug. I have held

PREPARING TO START
With each tool you use you should treat it as sacred.
It is an honouring of you, your space, and those who energetically live there.

You are doing sacred Heroic work.

Some Heroes decide to fast before they do a space clearing; some choose to use the power of the
sage and to smudge themselves before they commence the ritual of cleansing their home.
Some Heroes choose to do it at dark or full moon feeling the power of Mani the moon flow into
them.
Some Heroes decided to shed their clothing, and stand before the divine in their skin. Some perform
this ritual, when they want, at any time of day, whenever in the month, after a meal, and in jeans
and a t-shirt.

These are all options, awesome one.

How do you know which one is the right one for you?

It is the one that feels right for you, at that time, in that place. The most important thing in all of this
is you. You are the Hero on this quest.

However it feels good and true for you is perfect, fated, and awesome.

How to smudge yourself

To smudge yourself you need at the very basic level:

White sage (I use it in bundle form)

Some method of making fire.
Something to catch the ash in, a plate or heat proof ceramic.

As extra you might want:

A smudge fan or feather.

An abalone shell, these are sacred holders of smudge, used for generations by
shamans and magic users. (again Google is your friend if you want one)

The Smudge ritual

This ritual is as old as fire; it involves you passing the smoke from the burning sage over your body.
This powerful and fragrant smoke dissolves negative energies and dissipates them back to the
universe.

1. First take the sage bundle, and light it at the fat end. It will
burn brightly and then smoulder, if it keeps burning for more than
a few seconds, blow it out. It will smoulder, producing clouds of
cleansing smoke.
2. Once you have a smouldering bundle hold it over your shell
or heat proof dish, to stop ashes falling. Put it on the floor, and
wave your feet, one at a time over the smoke. Feel how the
cleansing smudge flows over your skin.
3. Then pick up you shell and smudge, bring the smoke up you, around your legs, up past your
bum, groin and lower back. Linger on places where you feel stiff. This stiffness is blocked
energy, the smudge can help free that up.
4. If your smudge starts to go out, blow on it, it should glow and go again; if not then you can
relight it.
5. Keep going up your whole body, passing the shell from hand to hand, around you. Make sure
that you get the underside of your arms and hands. As well as all around your head, and
over your head.
6. You will feel the soft embrace of the smudge take away the negativity around you.

NB: You can do this ritual on other people, using the feather to push the smoke at them, heightening
the experience.

Using smudge to energy cleanse your sacred space.

With your smudge in your non-dominant hand, standing in the doorway of your room, set your
intention, your intention to banish all negative, and fill your room with love and light.
Start by beginning to push the smoke around you, into the walls, the floor and the ceiling, you can
use your hand, or if called a feather or smudge fan.

Perform this rite with mindfulness, focus on the task in hand, dont plan the shopping or when the
dog needs to be wormed, you are smudging the room, focus.

Feel the energy retreating from the smoke; know in yourself that you are a Hero, working for the
divine as you banish the negativity, the staleness and the wrong from your room.

Work anti-clockwise, as you walk around the room, slowly carefully, with poise, and power, push the
cleansing smoke into every crevice and corner, dont forget under sofas or beds, in the corner
behind the plant. Make sure you are reaching all the hard to reach places, from floor to ceiling. If you
need to linger in a spot you will feel it. Wait there, pulsing more smoke into that area, move on
when you feel ready.

Slowly around the room, the smoke will dissolve all negative that there is there.

Feel the change in yourself, in the room. If you feel it needs more time, then give it more smudging.

You are done when you are done, not a moment before.

Sound Cleansing
There are different ways of sound cleansing, the first using drums or rattles, the second using your
voice, the third using your hands to clap.

Using Drums and Rattles

The first type of Sound cleansing is a powerful and potent heroic ritual for clearing energy.
This can be done using a drum, a rattle, noise sticks, or any other method of noise you choose.

This is a very similar ritual to the smudge clearing.

In your room, start with a window open, you need somewhere for the energy to go.

Then at the door to the room, take a moment, breathe, set your intention of creating a room with
powerful and clean energy.

Start with your beat, moving from floor to ceiling, in an anti-clockwise direction, maintaining your
beat, pushing the energy around the room and out of the window. Follow your intuition, when the
room feels clean.

Using your voice.

Your voice is unique to you. It is a powerful and resonant heroic tool, a tool used for prayer, chant,
talking, singing, shouting, and more. Your voice is powered by you Atheme, your breath, and your
Atheme is your most potent heroic power. Use your Atheme to pulse your voice.

To clean a rooms energy with your voice, make yourself nice and comfortable, either standing or
sitting.

You can now sing, chant or pray. If you have no ideas, try this.

Its Sanskrit, from the ancient Indian Vedic path:

Om Namah Shivaya Gurave

Its said as it sounds, it means I am open to devotion to the divine.

Repeat it.

Or you could try a simple, Om. This is from the ancient yogic beliefs, it is the root sound of the
universe.

Pulse it out, start as small as you want.

The Om has three syllables, they sound like this: Aaaaaahhhh OOOOOOOOOOOO EMMMMMMMM.

Both of these sounds are great for voice cleansing a room as is Take Thats Prey, or Guns and Roses.
What is important is your intent, the intent that you want to fill your room with good and clean
energy. Use your voice how you want to use it. There is no right or wrong here heroic one, just what
feels right.

The last is Clapping.

Clapping like drumming breaks down the negative energies, and drives them off.

Close your eyes, and take three deep breaths, in and out. Feel the pulse of your heart, set your
intention, your intention to fill the room with good energy, with love and light. Then just like the
drumming before, find a beat you like, and clap anti clock wise around the room, floor to ceiling,
getting in any nooks and crannies and especially the corners.

Do it until you feel its done. In your hands you will feel the tingle where youve banged them
together so much, but if you feel deeper into them you can feel that your energy is pulsing in them,
they are your instrument, and now is a really good time to do some healing or magic, its a two-for-
one deal.

Now awesome hero, you have been reminded of all the basic skills you need to get your home
feeling energetically right again.

Altar building
Simply put, an altar is the place in your home where you can connect to the divine in and around
you. This connection will allow you to follow the pulse of your Hero soul, and therefore follow your
desires.

Your altar is the physical embodiment of your Hero Soul; it is full of things that allow you to focus
your energy onto the awesome that is inside you. You alter will remind the physical you what your
Hero soul truth is.

First things first:

Set your intention, your altar is going to focus the intention of you into your space, your home. Feel
into what you want to create, what items need to be there.

Next, where are you going to put your altar? Here are some ideas:

The window ledge

Above the fire
On a shelf
On the table
Or a desk
Is there a special place to put your altar?

Choose your place, a place where you will pass and pay homage every day, my altar is in the living
room, so it can be seen every day.

Once you have found the new home for your altar, you should decide what you need on your Alter.
There is no right or wrong, awesome one, just what you feel drawn to.

Here are some options:

A candle
Feathers
Special Rocks.
Wood
Leaves
Statues
Art
Pictures
Crystals
Water
Prayer beads
Essential oils
Pens
The list is endless

These are suggestions, and your altar is only limited by your imagination, and the size of your space.

As a side: cats. If you are owned by a cat, then Alters are natural cat attractors, as puss can feel the
energy. Alters will naturally grow and adapt to your cats devotional jumps, pounces, and stomps.
Trying to stop a cat climbing on your Alter is an exercise in futility.

Once you have assembled your altar, you will need to empower it.

Empowering your altar.

Using your smudge stick you can smudge your altar to get it ready.

Close your eyes.

Breathe in through your nose, deeply, and out through your mouth, making an aaaaaaahhhhhh
noise as your breath flows from your body.

Breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth, aaaaaahhhhh.

Breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth, aaaaaahhhhh.

Feel your breath settle.

Hear the noises around you,

Hear them, acknowledge them; they are part of the universe.

Then dismiss them.

Breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth, aaaaaahhhhh.

Breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth, aaaaaahhhhh.

Breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth, aaaaaahhhhh.

Imagine a beam of purest light coming from the sky, through you and then filling your Alter with
power, energy and dedication.

Feel that energy flow into and around your Alter, direct the light to fill your alter with your Alters
intent. This energy is the divine flow of grace that comes from the Universe, gods or sprits.

You have now constructed and dedicated your Heroic Altar. Go you.
