Good Morning everyone Good Morning, Miss!

Please all stand for the prayer. Althea ( Althea lead the prayer)
please.

(Checking of Attendance) (Students raise their hand and say

Say present if your name is called present as the teacher calls in their
name)
Ok, before we start kindly please pick
up the pieces of paper under your (Students pick up the pieces of

Are you now ready for our class

discussion this morning?
Of course Miss!

Have you wondered if why flowers

are so important in our ecosystem? On own opinion Miss, flowers gives
Not just to give beauty but why does beauty in the environment and more
flower need to be in every plant. Yes, than they are also the reason why
Kim? insects got their foods that complete
the system of a flower. Like for
instance the bees they suck the
flowers pollen grain in order to
create honey.

Yes thats right Kim. Its really part of

the system of the flower and insects.
Thats what you call Pollination.
Flowers exploit insects to achieve
pollination; at the same time insects
exploit flowers for food. Insects and
flowers are a partnership. But before
we came to pollination. Lets first
discuss the anatomy of the flower
.

B. Discussion

This morning were going to elaborate

more each part of the flowers and
their differences from one another.
And we will discuss first those
flowering plants. If what is really
inside them to be able to reproduce to
another flower or to become a fruit.

Like what said Miss, its not just a

Does anyone of you has any idea or decoration in our environment but
opinion if what is a flower? Yes, Vicky. also its a food not just for the
insects but also to us because
flowers are sign that a plant is going
to produce a fruit.

Wow. Im impressed. Very well said

Vicky. Thats the also the reason why
plants have their fruits because it
start first from a flower.

Lets come now to our lesson

According the studies it is said that

Flowering plants where first appeared
at upper Jurassic that is around
million years ago.

It is composed of flower fossil that is a

about 125 million years ago.

3
And the dominant forms of plant life
were gymnosperm, cycads and ferns.

A short recall
Gymnosperm are are a group
of seed-producing plants that
includes conifers,cycads, Ginkg
o, and Gnetales.
Cycads vary in size from
having trunks only a few
centimeters to several meters
tall. They typically grow very
slowly and live very long, with
some specimens known to be
as much as 1,000 years old.
Because of their superficial
resemblance, they are
sometimes mistaken
for palms or ferns, but are only
distantly related to either.
Ferns- Most ferns have what are
called fiddleheads that expand
into fronds, which are each
delicately divided.

Lets come back again to our

main topic. They are, the Roots , Stem Leaves
and their flower
What do you think are the four
main parts of the plant?
Yes, Nonit?

Yes thats right! Plants are composed

of roots, stem, leaves, and a flower.
And today were going to discuss its
one part which is the Flowering plants

4
anatomy.

That sometimes known as a bloom

or blossom, is
thereproductive structure found
in flowering plants (plants of the
division Magnoliophyta, also called
angiosperms). The biological function
of a flower is to effect reproduction,
usually by providing a mechanism for
the union of sperm with eggs.

Flowering plants or Angiosperm are

now said to be the dominant form of
plant life where it is already
surrounded over most earths land
surface. Maybe because Maam plant or
flowering plants rather had already
Hmm what do you think flowering adapted their environment. That
plants have been so successful? makes them reproduce to another
Anyone wants to try? Yes____ (name)? form of flower.

Yes, you have the point. That can also

be the one aspect to be considered.
Just like for instance the ferns, it is

5
said that it is dominant in a cold or
occasionally cold location. Why it is so
fern grows in the PH where we have
tropical climate. Its because of the
reproduction strategies of a plant.
Rise of the Flowering Plants.
Animal and wind dispersal of pollen
increases genetic variability in a
species. Seed and fruit dispersal
mechanisms allow offspring to
colonize distant regions. Other Very well said Miss!
features such as shortened life cycles
may also have been responsible for
the rapid diversification of the
flowering plants.

Ok?

Angiosperms Flowers has an ovaries

that protect its seeds and later will
develop into seeds. Later Ill show
you the picture of its ovaries.

Its floral structure which purpose is

to encourage pollinator which is the
insects.
Just like humans right, we are always
attracted to a beautiful flower which
is to those handsome and beautiful
people.

6
Flowers main function is to help the
plant to reproduce. They are the
carrier of the new species of a plant.

Flowers has 4 main parts: the Sepal

or the Calyx, the Petals or the corolla,
the Stamen or the Androecium) and the
Pistils (Gynoecium )

Its function is
Contain the sexual organisms
for the plant
Produce fruit, which protect,
nourishes and carries seeds.
And of course
to attracts insects for
pollination

7
You can see it under of the
petals

(show again the flower or a real

flower)

And sometimes sepals are

colorful but mostly they are
always in color green sepal.

Next part of the flower is

8
Do you realize that most flowers
that have a good smell are
flower that doesnt have
beautiful petals? For example
the roses, it flat while the edges
of others curl up or under. And
those who have really a very
fine texture has no scent at all.

If humans has male and female

organ, flowers also have one
that called as Carpel for the
female and Stamen for the male

9
Male part or the Stamen has
two major parts the Anther and
the filament
On the anther its where you
can see the pollen grains that
insects sucks. Because Anther
is the one who produce the
pollens
While the filament is the one
support the anther.

This is the stamen

On the other part the carpel

which is the carpel that also
have three major parts the
Stigma holds the pollen
grains
Style is connected with

10
the ovary
And The Ovary where
reproduction happened
because it reproduces
ovules which develop into
a seed.

The close picture of the carpel parts.

So have you ever wondered that your

mango tree or your fruit tree is not
producing fruit? It is maybe because
there are no male flowers around it or
theres no female organ around it. So
reproduction to happened.

11
(students raised their hands and
answer the question)

Ovules can be found inside the ovary.

These are the eggs that will soon
develop into seeds.

It is because they might be on part

of the flower is missing.

12
Yes Miss!

What part is this? (review the parts)

Flowers have four classifications: the

perfect flowers, imperfect flowers,
complete flowers, and the incomplete
flowers.

Why is it called as Imperfect flower?

Yes?
Pistil Miss is the female part of the
flower that composed of stigma,
Ok thats right.
style, ovary and the ovule.
Imperfect flower has always have
missing parts
For example a male parts has sepals,
petals and stamen, but no pistils

While perfect flower..

Tulips
Kantutay

13
Understood?

Lets come now to Complete and

Incomplete flower.

Why is pollination necessary, Miss?

What is a pistil again?

Can anyone give me a common

In order for the insects to go back
incomplete flower that does not have
again to the flower to complete the
one of the four basic parts?
system.
Yes both of you are right. Tulips is a
flower that not have a female parts
while in the other hand the Kantutay
does not have anther, filament and
pistils.

And were now in pollination where

14
insects got attracted to every flowers
( students are divided equally)

(group leaders went in front to get

the flower)

The pollen contains the male gametes ( after 3 minutes)

(sperm) of plant. The pollen is
transferred from the anthers where it
is produced to the stigma where it
germinates forming a pollen tube. The
pollen tube then transfers the male
gametes to the female gamete (egg Ok miss.
cell) which is contained inside the
ovules. Once the sperm reaches the
egg cell it fuses with it to form a (Leaders had discuss their flower,
zygote and fertilization takes place. show their present part and its
function)

Thank you, Miss! (Clap, Clap, Clap)

Why does flowers need to be

memorable?
Yes Miss. We just realized that
behind its beautiful flower there is a
beautiful anatomy inside of every
(Show pictures of pollination) flower though lots of flowers are way
far different from each other.
C. Activity

For todays activity, I will divide the

number of class equally. Then we are
going to dissect a flower to be able to
know what they look like in personal.
Then youre going to determine if And also Miss, I now understand why
what classification it belongs. most of the public places that has

15
really have a beautiful flower in their
garden has the sign of Dont pick up
Group leaders go in front to get this the flower It is really because flower
flower. is indeed very important in our
ecosystem they attract insects in
order to produce another plants that
would benefit our nature.

Now I will be giving you 3 minutes to

the activity with your group mates
and 2 minutes to discuss your flower

Sure, Miss!

Say to class if what are the present

parts of your flower then where does
it belongs ok?

Ok po Misss!

D. Evaluation.
Thank you for participating on our
class activity. You guys are really very
intelligent on describing those
flowers. Job well done!

The entire groups were being able to

give its right parts of the flowers and
what kind of flower they are.

Yes, their also like humans. We differ

in different aspects. The only thing we
have in common is that beside of
being a human, we all breathe the
same air.

16
Im happy to hear that. So start form
now lets us take good care our
environment even more. Because the
more plants we have in our
surrounding is the more oxygen and
healthy air we get from them.

I think everyone is ready for our quiz.

Get one half cross wise and remove
all unnecessary things on top of your
desk.

17
Quiz:
On one half crosswise, complete the sentence and fill up the blanks.

IV. Assignment
Study how the flowers reproduce and look for a flower that is a
monocot and a dicot.
