A Gift for Tamer Tacir Roberson

It was the morning before Christmas Eve. Tamer excitedly ran


down from the stairs to the living room. (Picture of girl coming

She ran over to the window and saw snowflakes falling to the
ground. (view from the window with snowflakes falling down and
a winter scenery)
She walked over to the Christmas tree to count her presents. One,
two, three, four. Only four presents! she exclaimed.

Tamer noticed there were lots of pretty presents under the tree but
she seemed to only have a few. So, she decided to count her
brothers and sisters presents.

Her big brother Bo-Bo had six, her big sister Sissy had eight and
her brother, Baby Zo, had twelve presents. (View of Tamer

This made Tamer mad! (View of Tamer with her hands folded and

Later that morning, Tamers dad noticed that someone was missing
from the table at breakfast. Where is Tamer? he asked. Shes in
her room, Sissy said. (View of family at the breakfast table while
mom is in the kitchen)

Dad went upstairs to check on her and noticed that she was upset.
He asked, Whats wrong Tamer?
I dont want to talk about it she said.
He walked over and kissed her on the forehead. Okay, well, we
still need to see your beautiful face at the table with the rest of the
family.
Tamer agreed and went downstairs. (View of dad appealing to

Tamer joined the family at the table but wasnt eating. (View of all

Later that evening, Sissy told her father that she saw Tamer
counting presents under the tree. I think that might be why she is
sad, Sissy said. Dad its time for you to have the talk with Tamer
that you had with me. Dad smiled and agreed. (View of dad

After his talk with Sissy, Dad went to Tamers room. He explained
the real reason for the Christmas season, the celebration of the
birth of the Jesus Christ and how He gave the Gift of life to all.

She enjoyed her dads story and felt a new Christmas spirit. She
asked her dad to promise to take her shopping for presents for
others on Christmas Eve.

Tamer took her savings and bought presents for her family. (Tamer
pulling out coins from a small piggy bank or purse and putting
them onto the counter while dad stands by with a bag of gifts
labeled mom sissy bobo baby zo)

The familys Christmas Eve tradition was for each to open one
present before going to sleep. Tamer said, It doesnt matter how
many presents I have because I already have the greatest present of
all. (A spirited Tamer making a statement to the family that all
have a look of prideful envy)

Christmas morning arrived and everyone in the family except


Tamer came down to see the presents and was amazed to see more
gifts had been added to the stack beneath the tree. (Change picture
to family standing on staircase looking in awe at all the presents
under the tree)

Dad told Sissy and Bo Bo to go upstairs and get Tamer so she


could see the presents. (Photo of Bo-Bo and sissy running up the

Tamer! Tamer! Come quick to see! (Picture of Tamer getting out

Tamer was excited to see so many presents. (Picture of Tamer on

Standing in front of all of her gifts, Tamer said to her family, I am


so thankful for my presents, but I realize that the true meaning of
Christmas isnt how many presents you have under the tree, its
about giving to others. I will never count presents again. (Picture

This book is dedicated in honor of the gift of life and memory of


Estrella Navarette ( 1982 1995) and Coacheez _____ ( 1984
1994) deceased from Leukemia cancer. Also, to my late play uncle
Lorenzo Thompson (1962 1990). Lastly in loving memory of
my grandma, Tamer Anna Brown-Roberson (1918 1982) for
giving me my daddy.

About the Author:


Tacir is currently a 5th grader attending school in Texas. While a 1st
grader growing up in California, she experienced the feelings of
being hurt that can come with counting presents. After some talk,
more like a lecture, from her dad; she was encouraged to write a
book that might help others understand Christmas better. Tacir is
the youngest of three older siblings. Tacir is now an Aunt and
intends to share the spirit of Christmas with her niece. Tacir
hobbies include dancing, basketball, softball and reading.
