Hatari Handicap System 2017

The following system will be used to monitor and apply handicaps for HGS
members for 2017

This handicap system is a variation of CONGU to reflect our society

membership.

Handicap Decrease

Category Handicap Range Decrease per point over SSS

1 1 to 6 -0.1
2 7 to 12 -0.2
3 13 to 19 -0.3
4 20 to 28 -0.4

Example: Actual Handicap of 18.1 (Playing handicap 18) Scores 39 points SSS Score --
e.g at HH Par is 68 but SSS is 67 SO THE STABLEFORD SCORE WOULD HAVE BEEN 40
He is Category 3
Therefore 0.3x3 = 0.9; Handicap decrease of 0.9
New Actual handicap: 17.2 (Playing Handicap of 17)

Handicap Increase

The following buffer zones will be applied - all scores assessed against SSS
Score 36-34 No change
33-31 + 0.1
30 or less + 0.2

Example: Handicap of 18.4 (Playing handicap of 18) Scores 30 points, with SSS score 36 points
Category doesn't matter
Therefore +0.2 New Actual handicap: 18.6 (Playing handicap 19)

Note: Handicap calculations are applied to ACTUAL handicaps and not playing
handicaps

As previously advised, the committee/core group have the discretion to apply

observational changes at any time based on a number of factors including
current performance levels, past performances, handicaps with other societies (if
applicable) etc.
