1. A total of 70 people were asked the survey questions.

2. These include auto drivers, cab drivers, delivery boys, shop owners, stall
owners, students.

3. The average age of the people surveyed was 33 years with lowest age being
22 and the highest being 44.

4. 94.29% had smart phones, 90% had debit cards and only 11.43% had credit
cards. Interestingly, only 18 of the smartphone owners had filled the survey on
Narendra Modi App. Out of the debit card holders 37 had more than one debit
card.

5. 94.29% had been to the bank since the announcement on 8th November out
of which 32 had been visited the bank more than two times.

6. 97.14% had been able to withdraw money using their cards. On discussing
the experience, people had suffered significantly due to long queues and
waiting hours. However, the general mood was perceived to be optimistic.

It is understood that most of the people had reduced their buying volumes due
to cash constraint. People who were able to access cash kept their
consumption the same. People are tending to hoard cash for any unforeseen
difficulties by reducing their buying volumes.

This analysis showed the huge dependency on cash. The estimate that more
than 90% transactions happen in can was witnessed through this sample
space. People are switching to mobile payments. However, the lack of proper
infrastructure, monthly limit on certain wallets and a very less penetration has
slowed down the switching. It is mostly the urban population who is using the
same while majority of the population still needs access to the same.

Majority of the people think that the move will have either a negative effect on
the rich class or have no effect at all. Majority of the people think that the
move will either be good for the middle class and the poor class in the long
run with some having a perception that nothing may change.

It is understood that majority of people are optimistic about the move with a
majority believing that it will have a strong effect on black money and corruption in
India. Interestingly, 32.86 percent, i.e. a third of the respondents believe that this will
have no effect on future corrupt activities.
