PROCEDURE
Introduction Time

Allow time for class to transition. 10 min

Display class definition on white board.
When they are seated/listening, recap what was learned in first
lesson about persuasive strategies.
After this is over, clearly outline what is expected of product
proposal letter.
Your task is to invent a product that could replace something
we use at school. You are going to write a persuasive letter to
me and Mrs. Waite explaining what it is, and why we should get
it for our classroom or school. There should be three different
reasons of why it is better, and with every reason, there should
be two specific examples of how it is better than what already
exists. You will write an introduction, your three reasons, and a
conclusion. If, I was proposing that the class needs a light up
pen that warms up my hands, my three reasons as to why it is
better than a normal pen would be because it is prettier/cooler,
easier to find than a normal pen, and because it will warm up
my hand if my hands were cold.
Two examples would be my pen is better than what already
exists because the pens we use at school are more boring
looking, and people would want to do their work more often if
they had a pretty pen to do it with.
We must use two examples of persuasive strategies that we
came up with on our class list on our letter, and at least four
transition words. Mrs. Waite has already given you a good list of
transition words, and you can use those.
Sentences and reasons should be detailed. My product is the
best. is a bad example. My product is the best because I is
a good example because there is explanation, persuasive
tactics that are better at proving why your product .
