What it is Christmas Eve is celebrated on the eve of
Christmas Day. It is the Christian
celebrated. celebration of the night that Jesus was
born. Although the customs vary from
country to country, it is quite common a
family reunion to dine and exchange gifts.

Where and When Christmas is Celebrated

those churches celebrate Christmas on
January 7th.

Most people in the Greek Orthodox

Church celebrate Christmas on December
25th. But some still use the Julian
calendar and so celebrate Christmas on
7th January! Some Greek Catholics also
celebrate on January 7th.

In Armenia, the Apostolic Church

celebrates Christmas on January 6th. It
also celebrates 'Epiphany' on this day.
What people Most people do not necessarily wear
special costumes or clothes for Christmas
wear. celebrations--although in some countries
they might. However, because the entire
Christmas season is a time of celebration,
many people go to special family parties
or spend time with friends and may dress
up more than usual.
 On Christmas day, if people are at home
or in their family context, many will just
wear comfortable clothes while they open
presents and spend time together.
The good news is that we never have to
wear special costumes to celebrate the
Savior. Some of the first people to worship
Jesus were shepherds. They were not
rich. They didn`t have fancy clothes. They
came to Him in their dirty, scruff, raggedy
clothes. We to can come to worship Jesus
today, Christmas day, or any time dressed
in our ordinary clothes. He accepts us as
we are.

What people do. In Colombia, the beginning of the

celebration of Christmas
becomes official with the night of
the candles, which takes place on
December 7, the eve of the
religious feast of the Immaculate
Conception of Mary. On this date,
families gather to light a large
number of candles or lanterns in
front of houses and, in this way,
chart the way for the Virgin Mary
to bless their homes.

colorful party at night, with
pyrotechnic shows that attract

Christmas in Colombia is a great
holiday, it is time for family

For nine days, gathered around

the occasion to catch up with
friends and family. It is also the
time of preparation and
anticipation. Many days are spent
decorating the house, cooking,
thinking about gifts for everyone.
Making gifts can be a real art.
Some like to choose very
carefully the appropriate gift for
the person they love.
