INTRODUCTION

1.1 INTRODUCTION:
The highest efficiency in production is obtained by
manufacturing the required quantity of a product, of the required
quality, at the required time by the best and cheapest method
PPC is a tool to coordinate all manufacturing activities in a
production system.
Production planning and control essentially consists of
planning production in a manufacturing organization before
actual production activities start and exercising control activities
to ensure that the planned production is realized in terms of
quantity, quality, delivery schedule and cost of production.
Production planning involves the organization of an
overall manufacturing or operating system to produce a product.
The various activities involved in production planning
are designing the product, determining the equipment and
capacity requirement, designing layout of material and material
handling system, determining the sequence of operations and the
nature of operations to be performed along with the time
requirements and specifying certain production quantity and
quality levels.
The main objective of production planning and control
is to provide a physical system with a set of operating guidelines
for efficient conversion of raw materials, human skills and other
inputs to qualified finished goods.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:
The production planning and quality control used,
varies from company to company. Production planning includes
entire production of a product or the modification of an existing
product using the existing facilities. Quality control (QC) reviews
the quality of all factors involved in production. The difference in
production methods and controlling techniques varies mainly due
to the differences in economic and technological condition under
which a firm operates. This study was conducted to find out the
various production methods and quality control techniques used
by MILMA Thrissur Diary, Ramavarmapuram.

1.3 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY:

1.3.1 Primary Objectives
To study various methods used by Milma Dairy in
production and manufacturing of their products and also different
methods of quality control, with special reference to Milma
Thrissur Dairy, Ramavarmapuram.
1.3.2 Secondary Objectives
To determine various methods applied in production
To find out quality control techniques used
To study the methods of finding out the demand of public
To investigate the risk while manufacturing a product
To study about various competitors
To study the efficiency of workers in production department

1.4 SCOPE OF STUDY:

This study was conducted at Milma Thrissur Dairy,
Ramavarmapuram. Development of a product is a detailed
process to devise a product that meets demands of customers. A
firm must address to the diverse needs of customers which helps
to increase the reputation and image of the product enabling the
firm to win the trust of customers. Customers always seek quality
products at reasonable price. Thus product development and
quality control is necessary to provide maximum value to
customers.

1.5 RESEARCH METHODOLGY:

Research methodology refers the careful, systematic,
patient study and investigation in some field of knowledge
undertaken to establish principles or policies. This gives an
outline to the study. The systematic and logical aspects are taken
into consideration in this step. The research result will be
concluded by the researcher.

1.6 DATA COLLECTION:

Data collection is an important aspect of any type of
research study. The collected data will be used for a particular
research. There are two types of data collection, i.e., Primary and
Secondary.
1.6.1 Primary Data Collection
The data which are collected from the field under the
control and supervision of investigator. These are the collected
for the first time. It requires more time and fund
