To Whom This May Concern,
Technology plays a very important part in our learning community
today. All of them are very beneficial and faster, allowing teaching to go
smoothing and easier. Learning has changed over the past years and it is
time we embraced it. Using technology in school engages students, creates
active leaners, encourages individual learning and growth, facilitates peer
collaboration, prepares students for the real world, and creates more
engaged and successful teachers. Cited from University, Capella (2014, July
14). 5 Reasons to Incorporate Technology into Your Classroom. Retrieved
from http://www.capella.edu/blogs/cublog/benefits-of-technology-in-the-
classroom/, provides excellent reasons, which I will explains more in detail
why technology should be in classrooms.
Technology engages students and creates active learning is a great
first example. Every student has a different way of learning and with
technology we can express learning in multiple ways, we can use visual
presentation and provide hand on experience to make learning more
interesting. A lot of the time we have child lose interest in school lectures,
with technology we can use websites and tools to visual see and work with
the subject they need. For math is can be some online math games and
more. Learning online can help students that are slower or even faster
learners get the education they need. No one is always on the same track
with what they know, with technology it is a more efficient way to see and
track a students learning pace. This encourages an individual learning a
growth.
Using technology has help skills come out of students, it helps
facilitates peer collaboration. There are so much resources that can help
learning peer to peer. More tutor jobs and mentoring with technology. Our
world is changing rapidly and involving more technology, using technology in
school will help get them get ready for the real world. It will allow them to
gain the experience they need in problem solving, research, and data
transfer. Technology has created virtual lesson plans and easier ideas to help
in the classroom. Allowing more time for teachers to spend with their
students and seeing their strengths and weaknesses. Teaching is more easy
and effective with technology.
Taking away technology in our classroom will add more stress, and less
time to focus on our students. We would have to work twice as hard to give
the support each student needs. It will cause less motivation is a classroom
setting with work that does not appeal to the students. We need to go
forward in our world and technology will be our future.
Sincerely,

Identifying Technology Standards

The technology standards are similar on a district, states, and national

matter. They all want each grade level to develop a vast amount of

information on technology. These standards will help learn technology skills

for kids in the future and help the teachers get a feel on what the students

level should be at. Seeing these standards make me see how much we dont

achieve these in schools.

The national standards are most the way we should be teaching because we

can learn so much from technology. All these standards want to grow and

teach our students but the national standard is more detailed and more

effective with what our generation should know technology wise. This will

help our future advance and have more brains create new things in our

world. The district standard is more formal and informational. It shows what

we should be at but not where we should be at. Our state standards provide

how our teacher should teach when it comes to technology and how out

students can learn as well.

The fourth standard Critical Thinking, Problem Solving and Decision Making

Students, uses critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage

projects, solve problems, and make informed decisions using appropriate

digital tools and resources. This standard I would mainly use in a classroom
setting to promote technology. You can use this standard in groups and can

help promote other skills in your classroom. It will show the creativity of the

students and shows how much effort they put into projects, research and

more. Using this in our classroom and expands the learning and give them

more motivation into their school work. They will enjoy learning and gain so

much knowledge to use in the future.

Name of lesson: Word search Cross word puzzle

Grade Level Appropriateness: Second Grade
Technology Content Standard Addressed: Use Excel to create a word
search.
Other Content Standard Addressed: Language arts
Objective: To create a word search from your vocabulary words for this
week.
Materials needed to facilitate the lesson: Computer, Microsoft Excel,
sight words, a pencil
Suggested group size: 1 student
Procedures: First open Excel. Using your list of vocabulary words find cell
A1 and add the letter C. Next on Cell A2 add a U, on Cell A3 add a T, then on
Cell A4 and E. Make sure you make all the letters capitalized so they all look
alike. You should have your first Vocabulary word spelled out going across
the Cells. After you completed a word, type in the whole word in a Cell 21. Fill
out the rest of the word search using all 15 vocabulary words. Only use Cell
A1 through Cell L 20. Make sure you spread out the words. You MUST have 5
words go left to right, 5 up to down, and 5 diagonally. No having any words
spelled backwards. When finished with all 15 vocabulary words, use random
capitalized letters to fill in the blanks. Bonus! Add your name somewhere in
the word search for your classmates to find! When completed your
classmates will solve your word searches.
Vocabulary words
Cute, Fuel, Cube, Cues, Fumes, Pony, Music, Queen, Unit, Began, Menu,
Come, Few, Give, Pew
Assessment: After the students solved each others word searched I will
check to make sure each step was followed correctly. First check to make
sure all the words were present and spelled correctly. I will check to make
sure they have 5 words go left to right, 5 up to down, and 5 diagonally. Check
if everything is capitalized. And also, give bonus points for those who had
their names. Part two will check to make sure they participated in completed
a fellow classmates word search and found all the words.
