Blake Arena is very large so it is important that students try to stay within the
boundaries to the best of their ability, especially due to the limited number of

Opening- Hello my name is Coach Corbett
and I am Coach Cam.
Lesson Purpose- Work on practicing running
routes.
Informing- Today we will be learning offense
and defense in football. Football is a
challenging sport with many different routes
and patterns. A route is a pattern that a wide
receiver does to get away from defenders.

Activity 1: Partner throwing back and forth C C

Extension Down: Students that are struggling S S
will be given specific ways to improve.

Motivational Objective: Try and find creative
ways to catch the football.
Transition: Bring students back into a
semicircle to explain next activity. Using
whistle to signal end of activity.
Activity 2: For this activity students will be C C
split up into groups. Each group will have O O O O
their own side of the gymnasium. Once
students are in their group they will play a D D D D
mini game of three man football. To play this

game each student will be rotating to each of
the positions.
Extension Up: Teach defense to play different
patterns. Zone instead of man coverage.
Extension Down: Walk through routes and
defense with the group if struggling.
Motivational objective: Let students find a
creative way to get open for a pass, or catch
the football.
Transition: Bring students back to the meeting
spot for a quick review of the rules.
Activity 3: For this activity we will take the
two groups from Activity 2 and will be given
colored pinnies to designate teams. Teams
will play full, side-to-side, court length with C C
cones designating the end zones. Teams will S S S
have all members playing at a time. Teams
will have a 4-down series to score a
touchdown.
Extension Up: Students must catch the

football with only one hand.

Extension Down: If teams are struggling, can
switch to 2 completions turns into a first
down. Also, switch up strategies, work on
short passes.
Motivational objective: First team to score 3
touchdowns wins.
Transition:Students will return to the meeting
for closure.
