WIGAN METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL
Notice is hereby given that the Wigan Borough Council, in exercise
of the powers under section 1 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act
1984, proposes to make the following Orders:
The Wigan Borough (King Street/Rodney Street, Wigan)
(Prohibition of Loading/Unloading) Order 1993
The effect of the Order will be to introduce no loading/unloading
at any time on the following lengths of road:
(i) King Street, north-east side from Riverway to a point
IS metres north-west of Rodney Street;
(ii) Rodney Street, both sides from King Street to Millgate.
The Wigan Borough (King Street West, Wigan) (Restriction of
Loading/Unloading) Order 1993
The effect of the Order will be to introduce no loading/unloading
between the hours of 7.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. Monday to Saturday
inclusive on the north-east side of King Street West from the
north-westerly kerb-line of Wallgate, for a distance of 30 metres in a
north-westerly direction.
On the above Orders there will be limited exceptions permitting
vehicles to wait:
(a) to enable people to board or alight;
(b) for the purpose of building and similar operations, removing
obstructions to traffic, road works and works by statutory
undertakers;
(c) for local authority, North West Water Ltd. and Post Office
purposes;
(d) if the vehicles are fire service or police vehicles or ambulances;
or
(e) to take on fuel, water or air at any garage.
The Wigan Borough (Kings Oak Close, Wigan) (Prohibition of
Waiting) Order 1993
The effect of the Order will be to introduce no waiting at any time
on both sides of Kings Oak Close from the junction with Orchard
Street for a distance of 30 metres.
The Wigan Borough (Warrington Road/Poolstock Lane)
Wigan (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 1993
The effect of the Order will be to introduce no waiting at any time
on the following lengths of road:
(i) Warrington Road, Wigan east side from a point 30 metres north
of Poolstock Lane, to the boundary line of Nos. 642/642A
Warrington Road,
(ii) Poolstock Lane, Wigan north side from its junction with
Warrington Road for distance of 60 metres in an easterly
direction,
(iii) Poolstock Lane, Wigan south side from its junction with
Warrington Road to its junction with Marus Avenue.
In respect of the above two Orders there will be limited exceptions
permitting vehicles to wait
(a) to enable people to board or alight;
(b) for the purpose of building and similar operations, removing
obstructions to traffic, road works and works by statutory
undertakers;
(c) for local authority, North West Water Ltd. and Post Office
purposes;
(d) if the vehicles are fire service or police vehicles or ambulances;
(e) to take on fuel, water or air at any garage; or
(0 for the delivery or collection of goods and for loading or
unloading.
Amendment to the Wigan Borough (Alexandra Road, Ashton,
Wigan) (Weight Restriction) Order 1993
The effect of the Order will be to prevent vehicles heavier than
7-5 tonnes using the following lengths of road except buses and for
access:
(i) The Strand, Ashton-in-Makerfield.
(ii) Queens Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield.
(iii) Queens Avenue, Ashton-in-Makerfield.
(iv) Passage rear of Nos. 16-18 Wigan Road,. Ashton-in-
Makerfield.
(v) Edward Drive, Ashton-in-Makerfield.
(vi) Greenfields Crescent, Ashton-in-Makerfield.
(vii) Fairview Close, Ashton-in-Makerfield.
The Wigan Borough (Preston Road, Standish) (Prohibition of
Waiting and Restriction of Loading/Unloading) Order 1993
The effect of the Order is to introduce
(i) no waiting at any time on the north-east side of Preston Road
from Avondale Street for a distance of 40 metres in a
south-easterly direction.
(ii) no waiting at any time and no loading/unloading between
8 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. Monday to Saturday inclusive and 4 p.m. to
6.30 p.m. Monday to Friday inclusive, on both sides of Preston
Road from Market Street, to a point 40 metres north-west of
Collingwood Street.
There will be limited exceptions permitting vehicles to wait
(a) to enable people to board or alight;
(b) for the purpose of building and similar operations, removing
obstructions to traffic, road works and works by statutory
undertakers;
(c) for local authority, North West Water Ltd. and Post Office
purposes;
(d) if the vehicles are fire service or police vehicles or ambulances;
(e) to take on fuel, water or air at any garage;
and in respect of the north-east side of Preston Road, Standish, only
from Avondale Street for a distance of 40 metres in a south-easterly
direction for the delivery or collection of goods and for loading or
unloading.
Copies of the proposed Orders, and of the relevant maps, and of
the statements of the reasons for proposing to make the Orders may
be inspected at the New Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan, between
9 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. on any day from Monday to Friday.

Notice is hereby given that the Wigan Borough Council, in exercise
of the powers under section 1 of of the Road Traffic Regulation Act
1984, proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Bolton Road,
Atherton) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 1993.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce waiting restrictions to
apply at all times on the south-east side of Bolton Road from a point
IS metres north-east of Park Street to its junction with Bolton Old
Road.
There will be limited exceptions permitting vehicles to wait:
(a) to enable people to board or alight;
(b) for the purpose of building and similar operations, removing
obstructions to traffic, road works and works by statutory
undertakers;
(c) for local authority, North West Water Ltd and Post Office
purposes;
(d) if the vehicles are fire service or police vehicles or ambulances;
(e) to take on fuel, water or air at any garage; or
(f) for the delivering or collection of goods for loading or
unloading.
