Novapoint Virtual Map

1. Novapoint Virtual Map

Novapoint Virtual Map is a simple and easy to use tool for displaying projects as interactive 3D
virtual models. Users can walk, drive and fly freely inside the model and analyze design re-
sults. Virtual models can also be published on the Internet with the new Virtual Map ActiveX
technology. Novapoint Virtual Map makes designs better and designing more fun and effec-
tive.
Input Data
Novapoint Virtual Map can use almost any data from AutoCAD drawings. With AutoCAD MAP
it is possible to import from most GIS databases. Terrain is generated from contours, 3D points
or 3D break lines. Buildings, forests, fences, roads and other map elements are read directly
from AutoCAD. Virtual Map also supports custom 3D models with user defined materials and
texturing.
Automatic Model Generation
Based on the user configuration, the virtual model is generated automatically from input data.
The user doesnt need to take care of any 3D specific definitions because they are done by the
software. For example, modeling buildings, roads and forests is just about drawing polylines in
AutoCAD.
Virtual models are always as accurate as the input data. Errors in input data become clearly
visible and designers can correct them fast. Virtual models are the only media that combines
all design areas together and allows designers to see the design from the final users perspec-
tive.
Novapoint Virtual Map comes with a library of over 800 materials, facades, trees, bushes,
equipment, fences and other elements. Users can expand the library with their own materials
and elements.
Novapoint Integration
Novapoint Virtual Map integrates with other Novapoint design tools. Design models like road
surfaces, bridges and landscaping elements can be imported to Virtual Map. Designers can
check design quality, conflicts, aesthetics, safety and environmental fitting during the design
phase.
Presentation and Communication
Novapoint Virtual Map uses its own efficient viewer module for real time viewing of virtual
models. Interactive presentations are easy to make and virtual model serves as a good com-
munication tool. Users can save and print images and animations from the viewer. Models can
also be transferred to 3D Studio via VRML format.
