Brenda Torrence / Shay West scicu June 12-16, 2017 High school level professionals (guidance counselors, career counselors, teachers, and coaches) ‘SCICU Notebook and materials from the colleges and universities visited during the 2017 campus tour. This course is designed to assist high school guidance counselors and other high school-level professionals to better understand college life on the independent college campuses in South Carolina. Emphasis will be placed on a holistic approach in serving students and the practical application of this information and knowledge in working with students who are planning to attend higher education institutions in South Carolina as they transition from high schoo! to college and beyond. Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to: 1, Develop a broad and in-depth knowledge about the academic, social, and extracurricular opportunities available for students at the independent colleges and universities in South Carolina, 2. Solidify their understanding of student development opportunities and admission processes for each college campus, 3. Become familiar with administrators, faculty, and other professional leaders in the SC independent higher education community, 4, Encourage networking and exchanging of professional ideas with other high school level guidance counselors career specialist, teachers, coaches, etc., and A Certificate of Completion will be issued to each participant who successfully completes all activities required in the 2017 SCICU Campus Tour. This certificate does not guarantee any renewal credits, as renewal credits are up to the sole discretion of each participant's employing local schoo! district.
