BABASAHEB BHIMRAO AMBEDKAR UNIVERSITY

In order to actualize Dr Ambedkar's vision of an egalitarian and enlightened society, Babasaheb
Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) was established on 10th Jan 1996. In essence, all the
academic, research, and out-reach programmes of BBAU, including the University's Act and
Statutes, are informed by Dr Ambedkar's basic philosophy of making education the tool for a holistic
socio-cultural transformation that first addresses the aspirations of the most deprived section of our
society.
Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University is a fairly well-spread, student-centric Institute, with
more than 4800 students enrolled in a broad range of graduate, post-graduate & doctorate
programmes including several professional schools. The 51 new innovative and contemporary
courses started in the fall of 2013 amply reflect a world-class hub for education and innovation,
featuring the latest in classroom teaching technology, an Industrial Courtyard for collaborative
work with the top regional and national institutes and research labs.
BBAU is the front runner in many aspects from last two years. With an unwavering commitment to
academics, and the heightened realization that this is no ordinary time for higher education, BBAU
is determined to grasp the extraordinary opportunities available to it by introducing innovation,
accelerating growth and setting higher targets for achievements, both in academics as well as
infrastructure development. In order to fulfill the goal of achieving academic excellence, BBAU's
academic pursuits have gained immense momentum due to the extensive developments which have
occurred in the last two years.
New initiatives have been undertaken towards improvement of infrastructure, campus
development, faculty and student empowerment, management reforms, creation of sports, health
and other facilities, strengthening of grievance reddressal systems for staff, faculty and students;
establishing new hostels for student, initiating innovation in academic and extracurricular
activities, increasing access and equity for all and especially the marginalized groups, all of which
will enhance the University's strength and prepare it for further advancements towards excellence
in the future.
In an effort to integrate the BBAU mission of shouldering social responsibilities, contributing the
knowledge resources impartially, and serving the public purposes, it has been noticed that various
inclusive, society-oriented programmes have been recently started such as; introduction of
additional seats for single girl child, cancer and thalassemia patients; free education for students
belonging to the below poverty line/BPL card holder, and orphans; adoption of underdeveloped,
resource-limited colonies for dissemination of education and creation of awareness for social and
environmental issues etc.
With full cooperation and hard work, the University has been represented externally, both within
the India and overseas; secured a financial base sufficient to allow the delivery of the University's
mission, aims and objectives; carried out certain important ceremonial and civic duties; developed
the leadership and managerial skills of faculty who have demonstrated exceptional ability and
administrative promise; and encouraged faculty for conducting many programmes and workshops
for the growth, development and advancement of our faculty.
In the coming year, BBAU will be taking up a range of other activities designed to further preserve
our environment; provide learning experiences that develop inter-culturally capable graduates who
can make a difference as socially and ethically responsible global citizens; address many obstacles
confronting excellence within the University by enforcing strong leadership at all levels in academic,
student life, service, and administrative areas; develop a student-centered success culture and a
staff-centered enabling culture; advance the international reach and influence with rigorous
scholarship, collaborations, professional preparation, and strategic initiatives, focus on emerging
global educational trends and fair and sustainable human development; digging more rain
harvesting pits; and planting more trees. The University also plans to own a radio station for the
dissemination of community oriented information, education and knowledge.

V-DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at UIET BBAU Lucknow started journey in the year
of 2013. Over the last three years, we have grown our expertise and competence in the core
Mechanical Engineering curriculum and research. Mechanical engineering is a subset of general
engineering. Engineers use science and mathematical principles to solve technical problems.
Since they often create new products to solve these problems, they are in high demand.
Engineers are essentially inventors. By dreaming up ideas and turning them into a reality they
push technology to its limits. Mechanical Engineering is an engineering discipline that involves
the application of principles of physics for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of
mechanical systems. It requires a solid understanding of key concepts including mechanics,
kinematics, thermodynamics and energy. Mechanical engineers use these principles and others
in the design and analysis of automobiles, aircraft, heating and cooling systems, manufacturing
plants, industrial equipment and machinery, medical devices and more.
