For question number 1 to 6 refer to article below:
You work in a hemodialysis unit with a lot of patients with HCV infection. An Interferon vendor
offer you a support for HCV treatment. Would you accept that offer?
Based on article below, you prepare your team to conduct a research to answer the problem.

Although screening of blood donors prevents HCV infection trough blood transfusion, the
prevalence of the infection remains high in patients who are on chronic hemodialysis,
presumably because of previous frequent blood transfusions and nocosomial transmission. A
recent study in patients with normal renal function showed that interferon treatment lowered
the rate of occurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma by a factor of 2, whereas another study
reported that the therapy improved the survival but did not reduce the risk of liver disease in
chronic hepatitis C. The therapy has also been applied to hemodialyzed patients, but several
limitations compromise to usefulness for these patients:Interferon is expensive, liver biopsy
for definite diagnosis is reported to be risky for hemodialyzed patients because of their
tendency of bleed, the therapy may cause serious adverse effect, and most important, the
natural history of HCV infection in hemodialyzed patients is unclear.

The sentence below are your preparation to conduct study

dialysis patients.

After a prevalence study, you found that there are 108 HCV positive patients among 233
young patient in dialysis in your center. You are curious why is the prevalence so high. Since
there are a high number of blood transfusion among dialysis patients, could it be the reason

perforated appendicitis patients. You were just finished your training in laparoscopic
appendectomy and eager to conduct a study on your own skill. Based on article below, you
prepare to conduct a practical study.

Despite perforated appendicitis (PA) being a common surgical emergency in childhood,

controversy still exist with regard to its management in this era of minimal access surgery.
UTS CRP VI 2008 S.A.T.U

Open appendectomy (OA) has been accepted as the standart procedure for PA. However, OA
has been associated with prolonged hospitalization and significant complications such as
wound infection, intra-abdominal abscess and adhesive intestinal obstruction. With the
advisor of minimally invasive surgery, laparoscopic appendectomy (LA) has been routine for
simple appendicitis. However, the role of LA for PA in children is still debatable.

Recent studies suggest that as global deaths from childhood diarrhea decreased during the

29. Fever in children is one of the most common clinical symptoms managed by pediatrician and
other health care providers and a frequent cause of parental concern. Many parents administer
antipyretic even when there is minimal or no fever, because they are concerned tthat the child
must maintain a normal temperature. Fever, however, is not the primary illness but is a
physiologic mechanism that has beneficial effects in fighting infection. There is no evidence that
fever itself worsens the course of an illness or that it causes long-term neurologic complications.
Thus, the primary goal of treating the febrile child should be to improve the child's overall
comfort rather than focus on the normalization of body temperature. When counseling
the parents or caregivers of a febrile child, the general well-being of the child, the importance of
monitoring activity, observing for signs of serious illness, encouraging appropriate fluid intake,
and the safe storage of antipyretics should be emphasized. Current evidence suggests that
there is no substantial difference in the safety and effectiveness of acetaminophen and
ibuprofen in the care of a generally healthy child with fever. There is evidence that combining
these 2 products is more effective than the use of a single agent alone; however, there are
concerns that combined treatment may be more complicated and contribute to the unsafe use of
