SEMINAR 3 FINAL PAPER
1. The Republic of the Philippines is considered as a third- world

country. A lot of people are unemployed. The people lack opportunities to

get jobs. Some people resort to doing illegal acts just for a quick buck.
Barangay Tala, Caloocan City is just one of the drug- infested

barangays in our country. There are people that dont have jobs. Some

people resort to selling illegal drugs just to get money. Some people

got addicted to consuming illegal narcotics.

Before the 2016 Presidential elections, Rodrigo Duterte talked about

how our country is infested with illegal drugs. At least 16 million

people believed that he could solve the drug problem in our country.

Thats the one of the reasons why Rodrigo Duterte is now our

President.
Even before Duterte was elected as President of the Philippines, the

speaker was already part of a charitable organization. They asked

themselves, How can we help people? They thought of solutions on

how they can help people that were affected by poverty and the spread

of illegal drugs.
2. They thought that they cant help the poor, if they help the rich. They cant

help the drug addicts if the people they are trying to help have not even

consumed illegal narcotics. They realized that Tala, Caloocan is a place

which is poverty- stricken and drug- infested. Some people dont have jobs.

Some live below the poverty line. Some people resorted to illegal drugs just

to make a quick buck. Some people got addicted into consuming illegal

drugs.
The charitable organization that the speaker was part of conducted seminars

to show that there are opportunities out there to get out of poverty. There are

seminars that would discourage people from using and selling illegal

narcotics. There were also workshops that could improve the skills of the

people.
3. Theres a quote by Maimonides which says, Give a man a fish and you feed

him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. People

were given opportunities, especially women, when they attended the

seminars and workshops. According to a World Bank report, Filipino

working women are paid just 76 percent of what their male counterparts get,

indicating that despite growth and development there is still a significant gap

in opportunities for men and women in the Philippines. Through workshops

and seminars, people are given numerous opportunities to be successful in

life.
