The 21st century learning is no longer confined

between the four walls of the classroom but learning
that goes beyond the boundaries of the classroom.
This kind of learning allows both teachers and pupils
to be ICT literates.

Project PowerPoint 101 is a pilot project of the

West City Central School research team (POWER
CLICKERS) to empower teachers to implement ICT
integration in their classroom teaching. It also aims to
improve teachers PowerPoint Presentation skills
through the provision of a step-by-step, one-0n-one
training guide in making a simple electronic lesson
presentation using MS PowerPoint.

Project PowerPoint 101 makes use of the schools

three ICT Rooms and its ICT resources under the
DepEd Computerization Program (DCP). This project
focuses on the provision of basic ICT Literacy to the
teachers, specifically, basic PowerPoint presentation
skills.

LOVELLA LAZO MAGRINA ..ASSISTANT TEAM LEADER

It was found out that based on the Teachers Strengths

and Needs Assessment (TSNA) and the Individual Perfor-
mance Competency Rating (IPCRF) Competencies of all the
teachers in West City Central School, 81 out of 156 (52%) teach-
ers integrate ICT in their teaching and 75 out of 156 (48%) teach-
ers lack integration of ICT in teaching. In addition, the results
of the IPCRF Competencies show that the least learned learning
competencies of teachers was on ICT. Specifically, 75 out of
156 (48%) teachers are not applying ICT integration in their
teaching. In the same result, it shows that the 75 out of 156
(48%) teachers specific ICT skill that they lack is on PowerPoint
presentation.

The Research Team .. STEP1. GETTING ORGANIZED

The school administrator gathered and formed a research team

comprising of four teachers with himself as the research team leader.

POWER CLICKERS Together they gathered all available data regarding ICT trainings or lack
thereof of the teachers in West City Central School, to build the initial plans on
how to go about the study and collection of feedback and observations from
teachers on ICT integration in teaching. The gathered data would then be
used to formulate ways and means for teachers of West City Central
School to use and integrate ICT in their teaching.

Triangulation method (FGD, Observation,Survey) was used to cross-check, re-validate
and verify the data gathered and collected. holding this portfolio right now.

Focused Group Discussion (FGD) was done first to allow the research team to gain
perspective of the respondents reason for non-integration of ICT in teaching, specifically the usage
of PowerPoint presentation.

With the questions asked, the research team recorded through audio-recordings to get a
verbatim response of the respondents. Then, these responses were affinitized or grouped according
to its relatedness of the ideas.

After the Focused Group Discussion (FGD) was done, the team observed the 15 grade II
teachers, who were identified to have the least learned competency in ICT skills, particularly the
usage of PowerPoint presentation. The first observation was done during their actual teaching of
their lessons in the classroom. Then, another round of observations was done during the Midyear In
-service Training last October 2016, wherein a seminar-training on ICT was given.

Two surveys were conducted to re-validate and verify the responses of the respondents
in the FGD and in the observations done to the 15 grade II teachers. These surveys were done to
thoroughly pinpoint the needs of the teachers; their reasons for non-usage of ICT in teaching, spe-
cifically PowerPoint presentation and the type of intervention the teacher wants to address their lack
of ICT skills.
