AsIexplainedinapreviouspost,secularPharisaismplacesblindadherencetorulesabovethecommongoodand
therightsofindividuals.HereisoneexampleofsecularPharisaism:Teenwithbraintumorbarredfromprom.

AsIunderstandthesituation,basedontheinformationinthatnewsreport,theschoolknewthatthisteenhasa
braintumor,andknewthathehadbrokenhiship.Butbecausehedidnotfillouttheproperforms,givingthe
schoolwrittennoticethathewasabsentfromschoolduetothesetragicevents,theyturnedhimawayfromhis
prom.Sotheyprioritizedrulesabovethegoodofthestudents,thegoodofanillandinjuredstudentinparticular,
andabovecommonsense.

AnddistrictSuperintendentRayneeDaleyspublicapologywasnotreallyanapology.Hesaid:Wecannotlet
studentsparticipateintheabsenceofamedicalrelease,andwhenwedidnotgetareleaseintime,wewereforced

Ofcourse,itisabsurdtoclaimthatanyonessafetywasendangeredbyallowingateeninawheelchair,whohas
braincancer,toattendaprom.Andtheschoolwasnotforcedtomakeafoolishdecision.Theysimplyfollow
ruleswithoutregardforthebenefitorharmthatresults.

SecularPharisaismisbecomingincreasinglycommoninoursociety.Inanotherexample,afarmersetupasmall
pond,fedbyastream,sothathiscattlecoulddrink.Wyomingwelder,facing$16Minfines,beatsEPAinbattle
overstockpondTheEPAtriedtoforcehim,bymeansofheavydailyfines,todoawaywiththepond.Anattorney
forthemansaidthatfederallawclearlyexemptsstockpondsfromEPArules.Yetthegovernmentpursuedthe
mananyway.Theyoperatedunderadisingenuousandexaggeratedinterpretationofthelaw,soastogive
themselvespowersnotgrantedbyCongress,andthentheyenforcedthoseruleswithoutregardforthetruthofthe
matter,orthecommongood.

Thisiswhathappensinanysocietywhenalargeportionofthepopulationisnotinthestateofgrace,whichisthe
stateoflovingGodandneighbor.Rulesarefollowedwithoutanyreferencetomorality,becausemanyofthe
personsmakingandenforcingthoseruleshavelongagoabandonedtheeternalmorallaw.Theydonotactoutof
loveofneighbor,andso,ofcourse,manyproblemsensue.
