KURT COBAIN

A Biography

Musician, songwriter, guitarist, poet, and grunge artist, Kurt Donald Cobain was born on February 20,
1967, in Aberdeen, Washington. His mother, Wendy Elizabeth was a waitress and his father, Donald
Leland Cobain was an automotive mechanic. Kurt was happy and a high- strung child, showing care
and sensitivity. He displayed affection for music from a tender age; he used to listen and sing The
Beatles at age two and learned to play the piano at age four. The turning point in his childhood was at
age nine when his parents separated. After this incident, he became withdrawn. He went to live with
his father, but when he remarried, Kurt resented his stepmother Jenny and her two children. Kurt
turned into a rebel in his youth and started bullying in school. He then began visiting relatives while
attending his high school in Aberdeen. His teachers described him as impressive with odd artistic
tastes in his subjects. Kurts life changed when he met a local punk band, The Melvins. He befriended
Buzz Osbourne, a member of the group; Kurt developed a habit of drinking and drugging, getting into
fights with his mother and stepfather. Introducing him to several punk bands such as Sex Pistols, The
Melvins were highly influential for Cobain. He once got arrested for spray paintings on buildings but
was later released after paying the fine.

Kurt formed a relationship with Tracy Marander who was the inspiration behind one of his song,
About a Girl from the album Bleach. The couple enjoyed the rock and roll lifestyle although they
struggled financially. The couple separated ways after a few years. Soon after separating from Tracy
Marander, Kurt started dating a member of the Riot Grrrl band, Tobi Vail. It so happened that Kurt
vomited after meeting Vail as he was so overwhelmed with anxiety caused by his infatuation for her.
His relationship with her too did not remain for long as he desired the maternal comfort of a
relationship which Vail regarded as sexist. The couple spent most of their time discussing political and
philosophical issues. Soon, Kurt met Courtney Love, the couple married and gave birth to a daughter
Frances Bean Cobain on August 18, 1992.
The name Nirvana means, freedom from the pain and suffering of the external world. The title is
taken from Buddhism as Kurt was close to religion. He described himself both as a Buddhist and a
Jain during different points in his life. Kurt and his childhood friend, Novoselic founded the band but
suffered due to a rotating list of drummers. Eventually, Nirvana settled for Chad Channing with whom
they recorded their first album, Bleach, released under Sub Pop Records in 1989. However, problems
arose again as Kurt was dissatisfied with Chad. Finally, the band settled for Dave Grohl. With Grohl,
they experienced their greatest success in 1991 with their second album, Nevermind. With the raw
edges of punk and the blistering guitars of metal, they popularized a subgenre of alternative rock
called Grunge. The song, Smells like Teen Spirit proved to be the groups biggest single and helped
take the entire album to the top of the charts. He started using heroin in the early 1990s to find an
escape as well as some relief for his chronic stomach problems. Nirvana released In Utero, the
groups highly acclaimed album in 1993. The album was full of personal lyrics inspired by Kurts life
struggles; featuring a fair amount of hostility towards people and situations that Kurt reviled.

After many tours around the world when Kurt returned to USA he became a hermit; spending his time
alone and high, locking himself up in rooms full of guns and drugs. His partner Courtney Love
described him as suicidal to the police. On April 5, 1994, in his guest house behind his Seattle home,
27-year-old Kurt committed suicide. He placed a shotgun in his mouth and fired, killing him instantly.
There was a note addressed to Cobain's imaginary childhood friend Boddah, which stated that
Cobain had not "felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music, along with really writing
for too many years now." Even after death, Kurt continues to inspire fans. The groups Unplugged and
From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah were huge hits.
 North West

A Biography

It is, perhaps, no exaggeration to claim North West, daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, as
the most famous toddler in the world. She was born on 15 th June, 2013, at the Cedars-Sinai Hospital
in Los Angeles. Her parents, Kim and Kanye, were engaged but not married when North was born.
Her birth brought consternation to the family as she was born four weeks early than the due date.
People had thought that she would be named with the letter K to keep in with the Kardashian tradition.
However, her parents opted for North instead.

North is the older sister of Saint West and the niece of Kourtney Kardashian, Rob Kardashian and
half-niece of Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner. When North was born, Kanye forbade Kim from letting
their daughter appear in Keeping Up with the Kardashians, a television series which allows a peek
into the private lives of the famous blended family. For the first few seasons, after she was born, there
were glimpses of her pushchair, carrier or stroller, but the show did not feature North. Kanye decided
to show the first glimpse of his baby girl on Norths grandmothers talk show, Kris. The unveiling was
all anyone talked about for weeks since everyone was dying to see Kanye and Kims daughter.

The famous little tot has been capturing the spotlight, and, undoubtedly, been living the celebrated
childhood since she was born. North made her modeling debut while she was still in diapers, for the
Fall issue of CR Fashion Book, wherein she posed wearing a Chanel brooch and a bag along with her
Lorraine Schwartz diamond studs. At the age of ten months, North appeared in the prominent fashion
magazine, Vogue. She has, indubitably, developed a great fashion sense in just a couple of months.
The tiny one gets customized shoes, clothing and accessories to match Kim and Kanye. She is
always, very clearly, rocking the best shoe game when she hits the toddler streets. North nearly broke
the viewership records on the Internet herself when she was caught on camera telling the paparazzi,
No pictures, with just the right amount of sass. Penelope, Kims niece, and North West are good
friends and had signed up for ballet together. You would often see the pair attending the class and
recitals in their mini-sized leotards with really cool leather jackets as their style statements. No wonder
this little one is already turning into quite a diva, promising us a future fashionista. Shes already
Instagram famous without having an account. After being featured on Kims page, the darling
daughter gained great popularity. Nothing seems to be holding back North West from living the
celebrated childhood. Like mother, like daughter!
