Paradise Ridge is a haven where guests bring their friends, savor
vineyard-designated wines, take in sweeping wine country
views and enjoy the wonderful sculptures.
The unique experience begins after passing through
the entrance gate and arriving at Paradise Meadows,
an open field which is home to a two-story LOVE
sculpture and the Temple of Remembrance, where
visitors can leave notes to their loved ones who have
passed. Further along the road continues to reveal
Marijkes Grove, a sculpture exhibit nestled in a
four-acre grove of ancient gnarled oaks. Within the
wooden glens are galleries connected by simple
footpaths. Sculptures are displayed among mossy
rocks and small grassy clearings in this natural
outdoor gallery. Rather than acquiring a permanent
sculpture collection, Marijkes Grove supports the arts
by creating an annually changing exhibit space where
art, ideas and nature converge.
In 1961, when Walter Byck married Marijke
Hoenselaars in Holland, little did the newlyweds know that
together they would discover and build a wine estate in the
heart of the worlds finest grape-growing region, the Russian River
Valley.
In 1978, after more than a year of searching for a family property,

Walter came home and said, Marijke, children, I have seen
Paradise! Thereafter, the 155 acres overlooking the Russian
River Valley in Sonoma County, California became known
as Paradise Ranch.
Being green is nothing new to the Byck family.
They have been using solar power for more than
10 years now and have implemented changes to
how the barrels are washed that saves upwards of
100,000 gallons a year. In December, the California
Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance certified Paradise
Ridge Estate Vineyards as Sustainable. Quite an
accomplishment.
The California-style tasting room was designed
to complement the beauty of the surrounding
nature. The serene atmosphere is the ideal setting
for celebrations, and for joyful brides and grooms to
exchange their wedding vows.
Inside the tasting room, the walls reveal a historical
exhibit focusing on the life of the Samurai-turned-
winemaker Kanaye Nagasawa. The son of a Samurai of the
Satsuma clan, he left Japan in 1864 at the age of 12. Nagasawas
journey eventually led him to Santa Rosa where he cultivated grapes
and became the winemaker for the legendary Fountaingrove winery.

The Paradise Ridge Tasting Room is located off Highway 12,
next to the Kenwood Village in the heart of Sonoma Valley. When
you arrive, you will be greeted by an authentic Tuscan fountain
and large-scale sculptures, graced with stunning views of lush
vineyards and Sugarloaf Ridge. Here, you will taste some of the
finest vineyard-designated wines from the Russian River Valley and
the exclusive Rockpile Viticultural Area. Paradise Ridge promises
fun, stimulating and honest wine pairing experiences like no other.
The Herb Garden & Wine Sensory Experience takes place in the
Herb Garden. The tasting includes a flight of four Paradise Ridge
wines. This experience was created to showcase the chemistry of
the wines and their relationship with herbs and thus cuisine, and
will encourage you to trust your palate when pairing wine and
