Task 1: Proposal

Task 3: Filming
Task 4: Editing
There is an important reason for following this social action, as it ensures that the
issue that people with disabilities can have is clearly explained and shown
throughout the documentary. If we are clearly able to identify problems that are
now becoming a global issue, it could allow people to see the problems that are
facing the community and entice them to visit the Caf, as they will know they
are supporting a local charity, which helps people with disabilities.
Length of production
Our production will be around 10 minutes; however, we will not put a time limit on
it to ensure we have the right information throughout the production. However,
we do not want to have too much footage in the production, as we want to make
the production as interesting as possible to make the overall social action video
more entertaining, which would allow it to become more successful and promote
the overall charity more.
Interviewees in production
Jacqui A worker at Scullers Caf, she often deals with the admin side of things
with the Charity and is clear figure at the Caf and is known in the community
Carolyne The actual owner and founder of the charity, she is the main
foundation of the cause and the person who makes the decisions
The main production angle we will try to present for the audience is to try to show
the audience a new side to people with disabilities. We will do this successfully by
including storylines of people who have benefited from the charity and get them
to explain why they needed this. We will also try to evoke emotion from the
audience through the content in the production, which will give the audience a
stronger connection with what they are watching, which would hopefully entice
the audience to visit the Caf, as they would know they are supporting a local
charity.
A production layout (beginning, middle and end)
Opening:
The opening of the production will be a narration that will introduce the main
subject for the audience, highlighting what the documentary will be about. While
the narration is taking place, there will be various videos that will be of Marlow,
representing the subject that is being spoken about. This technique will allow
people to get a brief idea about the social action, before we introduce it fully
further at the middle.
Middle:
The middle of our social action video will be various interviews that will go into
detail about the social action video we are talking about. The people being
interviewed will be the actual owner, a worker at the Caf and someone with a
disability that the Caf has helped effectively. There will also be a narration at the
start of the middle section, which will slowly introduce the social action subject for
the audience, which will create a clear transition for the audience to clearly follow.
The middle section will be the main chunk which will feature all the content and
information
End:
The end of the social action video will be showing more b-roll footage and a
collection of other videos that will be present with a narration of it. The ending will
be a summary of the entire production, which can allow the audience to
make/have an opinion on the entire video. The narration of the ending will make it
clear the video is ending; this will show the audience what is happening, so it
makes more sense for them.
The main target audience that we are trying to aim our social action video, will be
mainly adults and parents who will probably be more sympathetic for what is
going on. We are also going to aim our video at business owners who will be more
willing to support a local cause, as there will be a community spirit type feel for
the majority of people. Our other target audience will be aimed more towards
local residents who will feel that this is a local matter that needs t5o be
addressed, which would entice them to come to the Caf more due to the social
action video.
Our video will first be published on YouTube, where we will try to make it
successful by paying for ads and trying to promote the video the most. Another
key format will be on social media like Facebook and Twitter, this will help the
local community see it. As they may follow local pages, which we would post the
link into. The final place we will publish our social action video will be on the
Scullers website, which will be able to promote the Caf if people visited the
website, and give them an idea of why to visit here.

PRODUCTION TIPS:
Interview in relevant locations
Make sure there is no background noise when filming - ask to turn off all machines or film
in a quiet location and if outside try and use a wind cover and microphone.
Use TWO cameras when filming - One following the interviewer and one following you as
you had with your multi camera unit
Get MORE footage than you need - you can always cut items out but you can't add once
you have filmed
Think about how you want the final product to look before you start filming
Add archive footage (clips, newspaper clippings, footage from news stories etc...) but
ALWAYS reference them on screen and make sure you have permission to use them
Once filming is finished make sure the following is complete BEFORE you start
to edit your production

Introduction Across the world millions of people suffer
with various disabilities and are forced
into a harder way of life. There are many
organizations that are attempting to help these
people into work, and teach them valuable life
skills for the future. However, there is still a
huge amount of people who are left suffering,
and dont have the skills to get them into work
and earn a decent living. Scullers caf in Marlow
is small organization, that is attempting to help
people with disabilities. There goal is to get
more young adults into full time work, and give
them many new skills, improving their
confidence greatly. Scullers has been around for
over a year now, and was set up in January
2016, by Carolyne . It is based in Marlow
rowing club, where it opens to the public during
the week, selling hot food and drink to run the
programme and continue helping the students.
During the interview Although this caf hasnt been around for very
long, they have had various successful stories in
with Carolyn
the past, which shows that Scullers does help
people into full time work, giving them more
skills and improved confidence.
