Check tensile capacity of 10mm GMS angle connection to U-channel:

Use 10mm Thk. GMS Angle,

Max. tensile stress of 10 mm GMS Plate (y-y direction due to Vertical load.)

fqy = Fy / loading area Where Fy = 9.6 kN (6x1.6) (Live Load=6kN)

Tensile Stress fqy = (9.6 x 1000) /(120 x 10) = 8.000 N/mm2 < 275 N/mm2 O.K.

Max. shear stress of M12 10 mm GMS Plate (x-x direction due to Horizontal load.)

fqx = Fx / loading area Where Fx = 0 kN (Taken by main frame)

Shear Stress fqx = (0 x 1000) /(120 x 10) = 0 N/mm2 < 275 /3 N/mm2 O.K.

Check moment capacity of 10mm thk. GMS Angle :

Factored tension force (Ft) = 0 kN

Factored shear force due to W.L. (Fw) = 0.000 kN
Factored shear force due to D.L. (Fd) = 9.600 kN (6 x 1.6)
Factored moment due to W.L. = Fw x Lever arm = 0.000 kNm
Factored moment due to D.L. = Fd x Lever arm = 4.800 kNm (9.6x0.05)

Area of 10mm Thk. GMS Angle taking the bending moment:

width = b = 120 mm Area (A) = bt = 1200 mm2

depth = d = 121 mm Zy-y = tb2/6 = 24000 mm3
2
thickness = t = 10 mm Zz-z = bt /6 = 2000 mm3

Shear capacity

pt = Fv/A = 9600/ 1200 = 8 N/mm2 < 275/3 N/mm2 O.K.

Bending moment capacity

For y-y axis,

pby = My/Zy= 0 / 24000 = 0 N/mm2 < 275 N/mm2 O.K.

For z-z axis,

pbz = Mz/Zz = 480000/ 2000 = 240 N/mm2 < 275 N/mm2 O.K.

Combines stress of 10mm Thk. GMS Angle fixing plate:

( + + )=( + + ) = 0.923 < 1.4 O.K.

Check weld connection between 10mm Thk. GMS Angle and the U-channel :

Use 5 mm fillet weld (all round)
