HPE380 Alternative Task - Basketball

Tute: One Group: Tiahn Barrett, Tahlia Brealey, Elise Anderson

Design a Street Game that can be used in schools
Aim:
For students to be able to practice shooting towards the hoop and reacting and
moving across the court quickly.
Equipment:
1x hoop
1x basketball
Playing area:
The main area would be situated around the key of one side of a basketball
court, however an entire court can be used when the students run away.
Rules:
1. Students like up behind the foul shooting line (can be closer for a less
experienced or confident group).
2. The person at the front of the line takes a shot.
They can take another shot if they:
- Successfully shoot the ball through the hoop.
- Catch the ball after ONE bounce.
They next person in line has their turn if:
- The current shooter misses
- They catch the ball from the first shooters failed attempt, after ONE
bounce.
3. The goal of the game is for a shooter to get three in a row.
4. Between when the shooter is on their second and third shot, the other
students in the line need to run to different parts of the court.
5. If a shooter gets three shots in a row they call poison on the last catch.
6. They then can take three steps and roll the ball to other players. If the ball
hits another player they are out.
7. The challenge of the game is that the person that is next in line to the
current shooter must get a safe distance away that they wont be able to
be hit by the ball but must also be prepared to run in if the shooter misses.
8. Because, if a shooter misses the ball after one bounce, or catches it on the
full, then they are also out.

Production Cluster
Your task is to briefly describe dot points are fine - how you would deliver the
concept, strategy, or tactic associated with the jump ball in a particular teaching
style from the Production cluster;
Guided Discovery what you want the group to discover and a list of the possible
questions
and situations you would put the students in to achieve your desired result eg
who will jump
and what other positions will the other players adopt.

Questions
- How did you or didn't you get the ball?
- What would make it easier to get the ball?
- What worked well when you got the ball?
- Where did you tap the ball to?
- Why did you tap it there?

Activity
- Students are divided into groups of 5
- There will be 1 thrower, 2 jumpers, and 2 receivers
- The thrower will, throw the ball up and both jumpers will attempt to tap
the ball to their fellow
- team mate, (who will be standing on the opposite side of court to jumper).
- Once one receiver has got the ball, the process will repeat.
- Once jumpers have had five goes, the roles will rotate.

Differentiation
- Thrower can be added in as an extra player trying to receive the ball
- Thrower can be added in as a defender to one of the receivers, the jumper
that successfully hits the ball needs to make a decision to get it to the
receiver that doesnt have a defender on them.
