The meeting was called to order by

Thank you to Round Table Pizza for
allowing us to meet at their Rheem
location today. The room was crowded
but the pizza and salad were excellent!
~ANNOUNCEMENTS~
Angelo Costanza reported that our Camp
Royal delegates this year are on track to
attend the camp later this summer. He
also asked that any potential bocce
players in the May 20th tournament
contact him as soon as possible. He is
also scheduling a practice session in
Martinez on tentatively April 15th. More
about this later.
Wedding Anniversaries
Dianne and Clyde Wilson recently
observed their 35th wedding anniversary
with a relaxing barbecue in their backyard.
Libby and Tony Schoemehl celebrated Johnson, representing LMYA, personally
their 50th wedding anniversary. They will came to our meeting to present a $1,500

Update From Our Exchange Student

Vasch Gerber is busy learning Mandarin

for her adventure in Taiwan later this year.
She says she is making progress and is
excited about this new chapter in her life.

Frank May announced that he will

convene a Nite at the Races 2017 wrapup
meeting later in the month.

~PROGRAM~

Our speaker today, Steve Burchik, was

introduced by Kevin Reneau. Steve
attended Manhattan College and worked
for the New York Daily News before
Vasch Gerber with her mother Melinda Gerber joining the US Army and serving in
Vietnam. Steves presentation
Cliff Is Back!! documented his year in Vietnam through
his photographs.
Cliff Dochterman appreciated the support
that he received during his recent
hospitalization and recovery. He said it is
good to be back. Cliff also announced
that he received a $1000 check from
District 5160 for speaking at their
conference. He is donating this gratuity to
the Mary Elena Dochterman Scholarship
fund.

President Kevin announced that the

donations in hand for the All Access
Playground total about $235,000. Hillary

Steve began by recognizing our Club
veterans and thanked them for their
service. He described his arrival in
Vietnam and his platoons forays into the
Vietnamese countryside. Wading around
in muddy rivers seemed to be the order of
the day.
Steve described some of the people that
he encountered during his tour including
children. He particularly likes a picture
that he took of Vietnamese children that
he entitled Faces of Hope. He also met
Joey Bishop and Tippi Hedron when
they visited the troops in country.
Steve showed pictures of the vehicles and
aircraft that were used in the war. He
finished his presentation by describing his
Last Patrol and getting on the airplane to
leave the country.
